I'm going to Port Aransas tomorrow for 5 days with some cousins and was wondering if there is anything that I shouldn't miss doing while I'm there. Already have deep sea fishing planned.

Go to the beach. You shouldn't miss doing that.

Yeah, that's definitely going to be one of my main activities. Any good bars/restaurants that I should make a priority?

I went there for 4 days. It was dead, not much to do. I think you have it covered, fishing and beach. There was this good Buffett, I think it was called butter churn or something like that. They had lots of good homecooked southern food. Also there is this one Thai place, I think it's called Thai cafe, holy f#*$ they had some of the best pad Thai I've ever had.

Don't know if you're an Astros fan, but I'd swing by Corpus first and take in a hooks game. Mike Foltynewicz is pitching tomorrow, you can say you saw him before he became a star.

As for Port Aransas be sure to eat breakfast at San Juans, great hangover breakfast tacos. Avoid Moby Dicks.

I'll second the post above. The Hooks stadium is great, and seeing Folty pitch would be well worth the trip.

If Corpus is on the agenda, you might want to check out the USS Lexington air craft carrier while you're there. I enjoyed that as much as my kids did.

But yeah, Port Aransas is like the anti South Padre.

It's very unpretentious and laid back. More a quiet beach town where the focus is fishing and the beach itself, less about the night life and stuff like that.

If King of the Hill has taught me anything, and I like to think it has, there is a great glass miniature museum in Port Aransas.

remember wade fishing in port aransas about 15 years ago.. Had the experience of fishing with sand sharks swimming all around us. Was pretty exhilarating and scary at the same time to see fins like on TV. Luckily we were pretty shallow and they weren't very big.

I got married when I was in Port Aransas, and it worked out pretty well. Maybe you should try that.

One of the rentals at Cinnamon Shore.

    Best Restaurant: Venetian Hot Plate

Rent a golf cart. If you don't, you'll feel like the only people on the beach who haven't either rented one or own one. Prepare to say to yourself, "CRAP! I could have rented a jeep wrangler for less than this!" But they're fun, and the ladies love 'em.

Port Aransas is nice. My first time going there was last year and this year I've already gone 2 timesl. I rented a nice condo at the Mayan princess resort last time and recent one at the red door inn. They have a bird center that is home to 2 big ass 14 ft alligators they get real close to you. I also went to selena's museum, statue and cemetery, got to meet her dad and showed up around some private section of the museum. Also did a questionnaire.

Port Aransas is nice, but I actually prefer staying in the Rockport and Fulton area. Rockport roughly 20 miles north. It's a sleepy little resort town, and it has a bunch of good airbnb rentals. There should be some good airbnb deals in Port Aransas as well.
