I'm headed to NYC for a weekend. What are some good things to do other than the regular touristy stuff? Like clubs, bars, etc.
After you get robbed, fined, towed, and whatever else go check out Doc Hollidays Directions Website I've got some friends that go up there and rave about it.
Yeah, Ive been there before, but I was looking for something more interesting than just shopping and eating all the time. I hate doing the tourist thing like Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty. Id rather do something that the locals like.
Tenchi: What do you like to do in general? Unless it's got something to do with nature or smoking (it just isn't NY without the smoking), chances are good there's a better version in NYC. Tell me what you like to do and I'll tell you where to find it.
hit some of the comedy clubs up. they got really good comics there every day. if you want discount tickets walk up and down times square area, there usually is a guy selling tickets for 5 bucks a ticket. he is an official broker for the clubs.
walk around alphabet city/Lower East Side and you should find some cool bars to duck into. if you're into live music there's always spots around town.
well if you are here this weekend, I'll tell you one place the locals will be: Yankee Stadium. even if you aren't a Yankees fan, the Red Sox are in town, and if you want to see a classic rivalry, this is definitely the one to see. oh, heres a good one. the san gennaro fest in Little Italy is here through Sunday the 26th. www.sangennaro.org have fun, you will never run out of options
You can sit in your apartment stripped to the waist eating a block of cheese the size of a car battery. That's called "living the dream."
I dig bars, clubs, and general places to chill. I like shows like De La Garda(sp?). Oh, I like food. Know of any good curry places? I crave curry, well the stuff I had in London, and I figure there are a lot of Londoners in NYC so there should be a nice curryhouse somewhere. I like museums, and maybe cool places to shop like H&M or stores that they don't have in Houston.
yes Tenchi, there are a lot of londoners in NY, but guess what? there are even more indians in the city!
