Hey, taking my finace to Austin on Sat - Sun. Just really going for a get away. She really wanted to go back to the Oasis to eat while we are down there, and thats really the only thing planned. We are actually staying in Round Rock, so maybe something close to there.

Maybe some bungee jumping, sky diving, zip lines, mystery theater?

Any wine tasting places or vineyards that you would suggest?

Is the Oasis the restaurant on Lake Travis ?

If so didn't it burn down ?

And i'm then assuming they rebuilt it ?

Yup, the deck was struck by lightning (!) and caught fire, causing some major damage to the place (which was closed at the time, thank God). But that was five years ago, and it's been fully rebuilt.

As for things to do in Austin/Round Rock. There's always Sixth Street. Plenty of great bands in town and bars to hop to. Unfortunately, the RR Express aren't playing, otherwise I'd say catch a game there: that can be tons of fun.

Overall, though, February is a pretty lousy month to visit Austin. Because the weather is so unpredictable, there usually aren't a whole lot of fun, outdoorsy things planned.

If you come down to 6th Street, you can come by Pete's Dueling Piano bar and I can get you and fiance in for free. I'm one of the piano players and it's always nice to meet other Clutchfans.

Another thing that I would suggest is to check out the Alamo Drafthouse. In addition to being able to have dinner and drinks while watching a movie, they often have fun events going on. There are two locations not far from Round Rock and then the main one downtown.

Cool River is a nice bar in north Austin that should have a pretty good band on that night and the restaurant is pretty good.

Woah, you are into wine, step up to the plate my friend and prepare to feast.

There are several good vineyards in the Austin area or surrounding.

I suggest you head out towards Fredricksberg early Sat, and start at Tori De Petri, then work backwards towards Austin at Grape Creek onto Becker Vineyards and end at the best little boutique winery in central Texas WoodRose, tell them Eric Peterson sent you.

You can also eat at the Silver Spur in Johnson City it is top rated on Zagat....

If you want to go to a B&B winery I suggest Lost Creek down Highway 71, they have an excellent chef and it is by Lake LBJ.....

Lots to do in Austin, have a great weekend, and if you want to talk Rockets give me a shout.

    DD

Inks Lake is a very well kept Austin-ish secret, maybe 30-45 minute drive from Round Rock and just epic canoing, hiking, scenery. just google it. it's worth it.

and luckily for you, The Appleseed Seed Cast and Dreamend is playing @ Mohawks on Red River and 9th. Check em out after a nice dinner @ Stubbs. Best BBQ in Texas. Follow this plan = you get ass.
