Man I have never had it this bad. I take over the counter claritin during allergy season, but even that is not helping me with this cedar fever crap. Never thought I would miss the humid air of Houston so much. Anyone got any recommendations on what helps with this?
I've lived here in Austin for more than 7 years and I've never seen it this bad with all the dry weather. Usually the cold weather freezes up the cedar and pollen so it doesn't get bad until the spring time. However, this year there was only 1 day of freezing so it's lingered around. Right now I wake up in the morning, sneeze 20 times, get to work, sneeze 20 more times, and deal with a stuffy nose when it's time to go to bed. Even though we got almost 0.5" of rain on Sunday, cedar is still heavy today. My advice is to try Sudafed Green. I hear it's supposed to work pretty well.
Short of getting the ecofreaks in Austin to restore the natural ecosystem by cutting down all the cedars shorter than about 20 feet, there's nothing you can do. Good luck.
Steroirds help a lot. Claritin was worthless, Allegra stopped working for me, and that other one doesn't work on me, so I tried nasal steroids, and they work great. Go to the SSB, they'll prescribe all the allergy medicine you will ever want.
I get the cedar allergies every year ~ the best thing you can take over the counter is actifed. It can make you drowsy, but anything is better than itchy/burning eyes, nose, etc. Actually actifed works better than anything i've ever picked up from a doctor - clariton, steroid nose spray, etc.
