My job wrote me a bouncing payroll check for the second time. What can I do about it legally. Its really making me angry. I call the owner to tell him that I can't cash it and he gets angry b/c i call him. I was given the check on monday and still can't cash it. He said for me to wait for the Garland office to put a deposit in, then I can go and cash it. He was angry bout it though. What can I legally do fellow clutchmembers, any advice would help....

(yes, i am looking for another job)

Nothing. I have been there. My last job still owes me money.

You can try a check cashing place. They don't know if the check is good sometimes.

I would agree, ask for cash. Tell him, just like he has bills to pay so do you. If not he can pay the bounced check fees and all your late fees too.

    Payday Law
Who do I contact if my employer refuses to issue my wages for work I have completed?

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has the authority to enforce wage payment laws in Texas. Under the Texas Payday Law, V.T.C.A. Labor Code chapter 61, the Office of the Attorney General may prosecute cases referred by the TWC. However, you must first exhaust all remedies through the Commission before the Attorney General's office can intervene. For further assistance, you may contact the Commission at:

Thanks aeroman, and to all others who commented, I finally got my paycheck cashed. My supervisor, who was in back of me in line at the bank, didn't. Wow. I printed a copy of that payday law, and the next time this happens, I'm going to right to him with it. Thanks again

They really can't force anyone to do pay you money you are owed. They can tell them to pay you but they can't make them. If you sue, that will cost money and you still probably wont see anything if you win.

That's lame. On a side note when I left my last job they sent all my money to me. Like 4 months later they sent me a check for 16 cents. I guess they didn't want to see me in court.
