"The Knicks should pray that Miami doesn't get its main trade target - Hakeem Olajuwon. Because last night, the Knicks' dream first half was wrecked by 'The Dream.'" -- Marc Berman, New York Post "The 38-year-old Olajuwon has openly discussed being released or traded so he can join a contender. Coincidentally, Olajuwon has targeted Miami as one potential suitor. The Knicks and Marcus Camby should only hope Olajuwon remains out of harm's way." -- Frank Isola, New York Daily News "He stepped up, man. If it wasn't for his leadership today, they could've easily lost the game - you've got to give the old man a lot of credit." -- Glen Rice "Anyone that has that much game, it's in them. Unfortunately it definitely came out tonight." -- Allan Houston "He's got a lot of basketball left in him. He was the key tonight. They went in the post more to him to get him involved." -- Othella Harrington "He looked 26 out there." -- Steve Francis "He said he had it. He said he'd get it done and he did." -- Maurice Taylor "Dream put on an inspiring performance on both ends of the court. The Dream Shakes, the blocked shots, steals, it was like he was a young man again. It was inspiring. I got goose bumps just taking about it." " -- Rudy Tomjanovich "If that's how they want to get help, so be it. It doesn't affect us, but it would be a good pickup for them, though." -- Latrell Sprewell on Hakeem possibly going to the Heat. (Sure, it doesn't affect the Knicks.) ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited February 06, 2001).]

NY likes Dream huh? Maybe we can pull off a three-way deal sending Dream to NY, Camby to Sacramento and Webber to Houston! ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . .

Think this game will make Miami push harder to make a deal? Just in case anyone is wondering, Miami CAN make a deal work on the cap if they choose to do so w/o moving Brian Grant or Eddie Jones. The key is for them to be willing to deal Anthony Mason. Mason, Majerle, Green and Ceballos for Olajuwon works on the cap and all 4 of them are FAs. I am sure the Rockets would have no problem waiving Majerle or someone from that trade to let Miami have him back like in the Augmon situation. The read I get out of this situation is that the Heat would give up players like Majerle and Ceballos that they dont need but would never give up something of value like Mason. The way Riley talks with his "no trade can get done" comments, it sounds like the Heat would take Olajuwon for free and have the Rockets cough up his salary but would never give a commodity with some value. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I'm glad to see he still has it in him. Cohen, Unless you fix that link, that's all we'll have... lol! ------------------ "what if my aunt had balls?" -- in one fell swoop, bbs member verse expresses his dislike of "what if" scenarios and shows he has far too much idle time on his hands.
I don't think there is any reason to think Dream can't contribute similarly on a regular basis. It has probably taken him a while to get the feel back, but I think now he has it. The question is, will last night's performance influence, say, Mobley to get the ball to him. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
Mmanal, I'm posting after reading the new thread "News on Hakeem" that finds Hakeem telling the organization that he will stay. Today's nbatalk listed several front-line players up for grabs, something that might entice Miami; would they actually trade for Kelvin Cato (who is listed) and, say, Walt (I think the Heat have inquired about him, too) for their dead cap space? Kelvin's BYC doesn't help matters, but we do have an exception to use (albeit small) if we wanted to further lighten our cap for the summer (or get a player we want now). As you say, any player that acquires Majerle, Ceballos, or Green can waive any of those players in an agreed deal. Looks like Miami won't get a shot at Dream. ------------------
