For whatever reason be it Van Gundy's lack of creativity on offense or the lack of a playmaking point guard, most of the Rockets points are on spectacular shots from Yao or T-Mac.
    1) Get an offensive scheme besides T-Mac making spectacular plays or dumping it into Yao and everyone stands around and waits for something to happen. I feel like we all had the same concerns when Hakeem was dominating the league. The problem with our current system is if T-Mac's not making his outside shot, we can't beat a lot of teams in the league much less win a championship.

    2) Yao needs to be the focal point of our offense. He is one of the most efficient scorers in the league today yet the Rockets seem content with letting T-Mac hoist up long range jump shots.

    3) McGrady needs to try to get to the basket more.

When is the last time we saw the Rockets get easy baskets. It seems that all of their points are worthy of the Sportcenter top 10. While it makes great television, championship teams rarely rely on highlight reel shots as much as our Rockets.

Until, the Rockets make a commitment to the above, I don't think we can seriously consider them contenders. We definitely have the talent, but I don't think we have a system that is taking advantage of our talent.

this couldnt go in the other 10 threads about this same subject?
half your comments are obvious and point 2 contradicts point 1. (tmac/yao shouldnt have to carry load then you say yao should be focal point)
jazz arent double teaming yao so there is no open shooter for yao to dump it to.

Hit their open shots!!!!!! It opens the inside for Yao, it demoralizes the opponent and for christ sake it's an OPEN SHOT!!!! If there is no one 3 feet from you, what else do you want?!!!!

i'm tired of seeing t-mac shoot those jumpers. I'm tired of seeing threads that say t-mac needs to drive more. Dangit t-mac it's on you! GO DRIVE THAT THING IN TO THE HOLE!!

change their roster...they now require a tremendous amount of luck to win a chanpionship.

offseason freeagent targets: steve blake, cato, bibby(sign and trade)? p.j.brown(this is an upgrade over j.ho. need to unload jho)

if i were blake, i would definitely sig with the rocks. gd place to blossom into a star.

why should post count matter when it comes to discussing this team?

having a really high post count is a rather dubious honor*

    Change the coach
    and trust your players.

Using their strength into different O or D plans,
not just same stubbern O or D plans and ask your players to fit or sit them on the bench.
When your normal rotation players are cold, no players for change.
When your O plan does not work, no plan to adjuste.

    coach is sucks

i think this style that we're currently playing fits our superstar's talent, so no, JVG is vital to this team. If we somehow get a good PG is the offseason, then we'll be a perrenial title contender and JVG will be recognized as one of the best out there. Even if we only have steve blake, i think our title chance would be quite a lot better than now.

So Please GOD, give us a scoring PG. GODDDDDDD

Basically, it has been covered a million times. We need a better PG. A guy who can facilitate the offense, shoot and drive the ball. Somebody along the lines of Mike Bibby or Deron Williams. I guess Billups would be a pipe-dream.
