I think they were epitomized in a few plays this game.

    1. Yao need to be more aggressive. He's already 10X more aggressive than before, and had a big dunk on Amare at the end of the fourth, I like that spunk. However, first quarter he brings down an offensive rebound and tries a lay-in that rattles out. Even Jahidi White knows to throw that down. Kenny Smith was right in the pre-game, Yao is not looking to make statements on a game to game basis.

    2. Lob entry pass. Mark Jackson tried on earlier in the game over the defender who was trying to guard Yao. It was thrown away because Yao wasn't even looking for it. But I stood up and applauded because it's the first time I've seen it tried in a long time. Even Yao knows when he sticks his hands up against a fronting defense he's not getting it, he just does it as a formality. I'm not saying he does a great job sealing the ball, but they should definitely work on this play. It will get him 3 more shots a game at least.

    3. Re-post. Late in the game, Francis goes into Yao, who is subsequently doubled, Yao passes back, the double leaves and Yao posts even deeper, but by that time Steve is looking any where but back inside.

    4. Perfect the pick and roll. The second to last time they ran it Yao hits a 20 footer to put the Rockets up by 5. The next time Steve wasn't looking at him and a low percentage shot was taken.

The rest are obvious and don't need to be expounded. Like better shot clock management and better adjustment against the press. I can only hope other teams won't learn from the Suns and start using the press against us as well.

But hey you know what? You can't win them all. Small adjustments can be made with the players that we do have. We have enough talent to win against the worse teams. The playoffs will tell us what we really need to become a true contender.

In other words, you think Brent Barry and Ray Allen should come to the Rockets. That solves all the problems. Basketball IQ rises dramatically. Passing ability rises greatly. Shooting ability rises incredibly.

I mean that wouldn't be bad...

but over the top passes and re-posting? i'm pretty sure francis and mobley can do that too.

David Aldridge threw the trade proposal out there of Ray Allen for Steve Francis. Steve Francis needs to play better or else the GM of the Sonics would have to be insane to trade for Steve. However, I think the Rockets could blame a lot of Steve's shooting percentage on the "system".

Overall, I'm not too concerned with this defeat to the Suns tonight. I thought the Rockets played well enough, but they just couldn't find a way to finish them off. That of course is fustrating knowing what kind of talent this team possesses.

The main thing that upset me tonight was the way our weaknesses were exploited in front of the home crowd. The Rockets have got to learn how to bring the ball in. Time and time again the results are a ill addvised time-out, or an arrant pass that leads to an easy lay up on the other end.

Suns game plan worked to perfection, exploiting our guards' poor passing and decision making. SF and Cat go 10 for 35 with 9 TO's......that speaks volumes. Give the Suns credit, they made all the big shots when they needed them.

Given how we just edged Atlanta, the Bulls, and a crippled Clips team, this loss should be no surprise. When we're good, we're very very good and when we're bad we're............

......well, you can finish this one. Hope it serves as a wakeup call.

No, I threw out the Steve Francis for Ray Allen trade....Aldridge is just riding my coattails on that one. ;)
