When you are down 11 with 3 minutes left, YOU DON'T PULL OUT YOUR STARTERS! The Rockets were in the middle of a comeback, and Rudy just gave up. He didn't even leave ONE quality scorer in the lineup. Meanwhile, Orlando had their best players in, and finished them off. And what about his play with McGrady? WHEN THE GUY IS SCORING ON EVERY SINGLE PLAY DOWN THE FLOOR, YOU DOUBLE HIM! Of course, he did start doubling him, but only after it was a 25 point game. I was starting to respect Rudy again, but this game has made me regress. You don't give up in the middle of a rally just to rest for the next game. What if they lose tomorrow? Then the "rest" was for nothing. Pitiful coaching by Rudy, and a pitiful game overall. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
If, during the middle of basket trading in the last three minutes Steve or Cuttino had gotten hurt, what pray tell would the great ZRB have said about Rudy. You're truly pathetic. ------------------ Good night everyone, Canadian or American. Just remember that we're all bound together by basketball, the internet and the mullet. If I had a hammer for everytime ZRB started a negative thread after a loss, I would have 26 hammers. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
They had a chance to win! It wasn't a 20 point game. Orlando blew a 9 point lead against Dallas with 1 minute left! The Rockets had a chance, and that is all it should have taken for Rudy to keep his starters in. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I'm sorry that I didn't give up like Rudy. In my book, if there is a chance to win, GO FOR THE WIN! ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I questioned that as well, but for what it's worth, the Rockets PROBABLY wouldn't have won. I still would've left the starters in, but maybe Rudy didn't feel that it was worth risking injuries. ------------------ consultant, n.: Someone who knowns 101 ways to make love, but can't get a date.
i agree with zrb though. champions don't give up. that's why we had the heart of champions in 93-94 and 94-95 we just never gave up and we always pulled through evenw hen the chances were slim. i miss elie he would have pushed those guys back up on the court and told them to not give up ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer I'm not only a fan but I'm also the bartender at clutchcity chat For the last time I'm not Tybrave!!!!!
I try to stay away from your dumb ass threads, but dude WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH U? Why the hell are u a Rockets fan to begin with? You sure as hell dont love anything about em! Your team this year should have been the 76ers. Stop watching the Rockets if they annoy u so much. ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! I love the Rockets. That is why moronic things like what Rudy did tonight really get to me. Sure they probably would have lost. I am just against the idea of giving up. I don't care if their chances are 1-100, if they have a chance, TAKE IT. I don't bandwagon. I don't like the Sixers. I love the Rockets, and it hurts to see them blow opportunities. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
The chance for the win was over, the Rockets had lost momentum and there was too much time to try and regain it, especially with two of our best offensive players not producing. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
I didn't see the game, just heard it and kept up with in the chatroom. If Rudy DID pull the starters in a game 11 or under with about 3 minutes left I would have to agree. That is MORE then a winnable game. An 11 point deficit with about 2 minute left is winnable. Ask Denver after they coughed up something like a 15 point lead to Phoenix in that time earlier this year. ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . . The Orlando announcers couldn't believe it when Rudy pulled his starters. It just looks like Rudy is more worried about "development", than making the playoffs. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." When I noticed the starters weren't in there, I turned if off. I feel it was a little early to take them out. Mobley was on one of his streaks, and when a player is in a zone, he can sometimes do some amazing things. It looked like Mobley could have possibly bought the Rockets closer and made it even more interesting. I'm not saying they would have won, but who knows. I've seen crazier things happen in shorter periods than the three minutes that were left in the game. You just can't afford to tank it, especially a team in the Rocket's position, clawing and scratching for a playoff berth. Every game from now on out counts double. ------------------
I agree wholeheartedly. Just like if we have a 1-100 chance of getting Webber, we still go for him. ------------------ The best is yet to come. Go Rockets!
LOL Ali_Cat! Or should I say Poopycat? Definitely stay with the gang if they have chance at a win. That is still a winnable game. Rocks shouldn't have been that far behind in the first place though. ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . .
The whole situation was just plain poopy! no, we're not crazy, just chat-heads ------------------ The season's halfway over...and I still need that keg of Pepto-Bismol.
Gee it seems like everytime ZRB yells about 'dumb ol Rudy' (read: after every loss), I immediately read the players owning up to their mistakes. ------------------ Good night everyone, Canadian or American.
