...that we could actually make the playoffs THIS YEAR?!? It is, of course, not going to happen. But it's funny to think that we really weren't as far out as some would people would make it sound. In theory, if Dallas lost all 5 of it's remaining games, and we won all for of our remaining games, then we're tied for the eighth seed. But since we won the season series, (we'll have to since we already lead 2-1, and we play them next) if I understand things correctly, that would put us in the first round against the Lakers. Like I said, impossible barring a complete and utter shutdown from our friends up north, but interesting to think about. Could this team make the playoffs next year? No doubt. ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
no we couldnt we have 4 games left if we win them all we would finnish 36-46 but the #8 team already has 42 wins. ------------------ ~John~ Hi, my name is John and I'm a clutchaholic. Houston NHL

You are right though we could pass Dallas to bad they are the #9 seed. ------------------ ~John~ Hi, my name is John and I'm a clutchaholic. Houston NHL [This message has been edited by Johny Rocket (edited April 12, 2000).]
*cough**cough* 'Scuse me. Sorry, heh... I must be suffering from over-exposure to optomism. This entire foolish thread is partially a result of mis-reporting from Mike Monroe (may God smite him) and partially from my misreading the standings column. Ahem... Mr. Monroe states, "Instead, the Nuggets gift-wrapped an opportunity for the Rockets to win their eighth game in their last 11 and a chance to pass the Nuggets in the Western Conference standings, though the significance of being ninth, instead of 10th, is of little consequence." Well, I thought, "Of course 9th is significant! It's one spot out of the playoffs for crying out loud!" So I ran to the standings column, and found out Dallas was in front of us, did some quick math, and voila! Oh well. Still, we're not far from the madding crowd. Good enough? ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
