Big companies hire ppl to brainstorm ideas to improve the firm. We, the clutchfans could do the same for the Rockets. We can suggest some game strategies and tatics in this thread so when the team need something new, they could just come to ClutchFans to get them...

For example, we could post strategies on how to play against Phoenix when they have Steve/Marion/Stoudamire/xxx/xxx on the court. Or something like how to take Tim Duncan out of the game before the 3rd quarter...However, I would leave these for the others to think about and for now, I would like to recommand one very general strategy:

    Intensive Offense for 48 minutes
    • Other than Phoenix, most teams doesn't even have the assets to provide intensive scoring, not to mention for the entire game. This season, Rox has about nine players who can score 10+ points/game and five players who could score 20+ points/game, if we could utilize this advantage for the entire 48 minutes, we will be unbeatable.

    • To accomplish this, we could ALWAYS have 4 scorers on the floor with some occasions of all 5. This tatic itself, could create a lots trouble for the other teams.

    • With the above in mind, we can have 3 teams: Team A, Team B1, Team B2. Team A is the main team that get us through the critical times. Team B1 and Team B2 are for a) Tire out the other teams starters. b) Draw fouls on other teams' key players. c) Increase the lead if the other teams put on their second units.

in my opinion, it isn't our place to help them in their strategies and tactics...don't mean to sound negative, but most of the time, the fans are wrong when it cames to stuff like that.

i'm all in for cheering on and supporting the Rockets though! :D

    1) Turning the ball over less than 10 times a game would be great strategy against any team
    2) see no. 1

I don't want to be rude, but "wanna" is actually "want to" and "dont" requires an apostrophe. :p

I fully agree with what you said about the fans strategizing ways our team could play better. Our job is to cheer and keep the energy of the team up when they're losing at home or attend some road trips so players can see a friendly face. Fans support the team whether they win or lose, because watching them play is very entertaining.

Maybe we can come up with just one set play that Adleman will use as a tribute to clutchfans? It shall be called the clutch-22 (why? I have no idea) and it will be used once per half in every game.

I can see it now. Tmac gets the ball just over the halfcourt line and yells "clutch-22! clutch-22!" and then passes to Stevie and cuts to the basket to start the play. Steve will decide to scrap the play (because Adleman gives them freedom) and dribble until there are 3 seconds left. He will then streak toward the basket and dribble the ball off of his knee and immediately cry that he was fouled.

I would suggest that their best strategy is to follow Coach A's instructions to the 'T'.
It is rather assumptive of fans to think that they would know better than the Head Coach! :p
PS Especially now that JVG is gone! :)

I like this topic. I think the bbs' collective intelligence is formidable. Why not hypothesize strategies and plays?

    My 2cents:

Yao can play in the low block and high post. If he can transition between the two with ease opposing centers will be screwed.

I think our rotation will be shorter than most people think. However, for the first time we have a bigger arsenal of offensive specialists. Francis, Head and Bonzi could hypothetically play small minutes and make big contributions to scoring. I think the real challenge is getting them in the game and keeping the flow going.

Also, what worked last year is a good question to ask. Defense obviously worked, but at the cost of offense. The pick and roll was one of the only ways we could get shots off....

I don't think that's what the thread starter is suggesting.

EDIT: Check that...that's EXACTLY what the thread starter is suggesting. LOL.

    Perhaps I should clerify myself:

    1) I am not saying the coaching staffs need to use the strategies fans recommended. All I am suggesting is that, if they want something new or out of the box, they could use ClutchFans as ONE of their options.

    2) When big companies want to come up with a brand new product, they go to both their experts and the ordinary people on street for new ideas.

    3) I agreed that Adelman knows much more about basketball than the most of us and it's a little early for him to even consider new tatics, but it wouldn't hurt if we could start the "strategy database" now...

I was wondering how the word "recommand" made sense in the title of this thread.
