Also, Steve hasn't played alot of organized basketball at all. Young pg's are prone to TO's. I'm sure Kidd was. Payton probably was. Marbury also. Andre Miller, whom most of us love in this forum was also earlier. Also, if I were Hakeem, I wouldnt' have trusted my teammates either . Dream was literally a one man show. ------------------ "I know how hard it is to put food on your family." George W. Bush
That is what I have been trying to say all along. Thanks Jeff, DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
Don't even try it DaDakota!! You said bad, mean things about Steve and said he wasn't "a good point guard." We are all onto you! Jeff, Great post. I agree 100%. And as I have stated before, it is a HUGE tribute to Steve's talent and skill level when I read these posts with incredibly high expectations for him. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
There has been some ragging on Steve because of his propensity to dribble too much and get into trouble. It is easy to forget with all that talent that he is only 5 games into his second NBA season. The thing Steve hasn't learned, and it will take time to learn it, is to trust his teammates. It took Hakeem nearly 10 seasons in the NBA to learn to trust his teammates and it resulted in two world championships. Steve will learn it faster because he IS the offense right now and by virtue of the fact that he is the point guard. However, I would caution everyone to exercise patience with him because it isn't an easy thing to learn. When you carry your college team and dominate NBA talent, it is tough to remember that there are 4 other guys on the floor. In addition, NBA defenses are going to make it much tougher on Francis this year forcing him to give up the ball sooner and make better decisions with the ball. It took Hakeem quite a while to learn how to read double teams and know where to send the ball when they came. Francis is no different. With all these young guys put together, it will take some time for them to learn each other. When they do, however, and when Steve learns to give up the ball, watch out. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
