We we arched this team grow up. They're an AFC power now. But why can't this team do what no one expects?

Andre has a few years left. DeAndre looks to be a stud. We have a two headed monster on the ground in Foster and Tate. Schaub is an okay QB. The defense is one of the best in the league.

We have all the ingredients for a Super Bowl. What's missing?

Special teams outside of Jonah Hill hasn't been too bad. My biggest worry is the O-line and stopping elite qbs from putting up quick tis because of our man coverage.

Kubrick & Schaub showing that they can step it up when it counts. The Patriots should be their standard and when they can actually beat Tom Brady & co. and not get out played/out coached, then we might see that they've taken the necessary step forward.

    Consistency.
We have seen the lows and highs of this team in only two games. Not good.

I've never "arched this team" but I get the gist of your post. Raven makes a good point with "kicker" and "special teams". Bullock is going to have to put it together because those 3 point opportunities are gonna be crucial. I actually think the Texans are at a point where a more consistent if less spectacular (5o yds +) kicker needs to be considered in no more than the next two games. It may be too late to address special teams (Marciano is still here) other than to hope Kubiak will get his coaches and players to commit.

I suspect the Texans will just need to play the hand they are dealt (and put together) in the smartest way possible. I think the pieces are all there and while it will only be possible if Schaub performs at his best thru the entire season, that may be just enough. This team just needs to play smart and hard and capitalize on any breaks that come along. It's going to be a long season and losing a couple early might not be all that bad if they learn from the losses and build end of the season momentum.

In the end, the defense will need to lead the way and go on a monster surge towards the end of the season and thru the playoffs for the Texans to win it all.

I agree all the pieces are in place. We could look back in a few years and assess this team on paper had the most talent. Next year Reed is a year older, Tate, Ninja, and others may be cap casualties. We're in that sweet spot of a teams history where several of the most important players are on cap friendly contracts like Watt, Jackson, Tate, and hopefully Mercilus and Nuke. The vets making the big bucks are actually earning them like AJ, Cush, Schaub, Myers, JJO, Brown, Foster, etc and a couple of older vets Lechler, Greg Jones, Reed were added to fill in the gaps. There's no well the team is over the hill vets or inexperienced upstarts we have that perfect mix of quality youth, in their prime vets, and a couple of grizzled elder statesman.

The time is now this season. This team needs c

Stupid phone. The texans just need consistency. I would also say poise and mental toughness but they showed that the last two weeks. Only glaring weakness is kicker but jeez that one can be a killer.

let's look at all the previous championship runs

2000- Arguably one of the best Defenses in History + game manager at qb.

2001- Great Defense+ Camcorder+ Game manager qb/Bledsoe subs in and beats steelers in afc.

    2002- Great Defense+Chucky

    2003- Great Defense+Camcorder +game manager qb

2004- Great Defense +camcorder+ Game manager qb on verge of putting up video game numbers but not there yet.

2005- Great Defense + Game managing Qb

2006- A Defense that couldn't stop ron dayne miraculously Plays great + game managing qb
trent dilfer had a better run to the superbowl than peyton, statistically same number of tds(3) dilfer only had 1 int compared to manning's 7

2007- Great Defense +game managing Qb, who had one and out himself in his 2 previous playoff starts.

2008- Great defense, ranked 1 + game managing qb.

2009- #1 defense in creating turnovers + video game QB.
(video game qb missed playoffs twice previously before acquiring said defense.)

2010: Great defense(dom caper's first year) + game managing Qb.
    divisional game:
(qb relied on a run game of 130 yds + his defense to render michael vick to turnovers)
    NFC championship:
(Game managing qb attempts to give away game, his defense bails the team out. radio experts trash houston for not being good evaluators and missing out on tramon williams )

I'll stop there since there is a pattern....Great defenses or playing great defense at the right time.

We have the players on D to achieve this. however, there is a style of offense that gives our coordinator a headache. we have to figure it out.

We definitely have the talent to do it. Its all about getting hot at the end of the season. Last year is a perfect example, as the Ravens have had far better teams in the past when compared to the one that won it last year.

deep passing quarterbacks appear to be, by far, our biggest weakness.
