When people think Houston Sports what comes to mind ?

In the 90's I would of said Rockets
I'd say this decade has been mostly Astros, but with their recent decline that could be argued.

    What do you think ?

We're a "whatever team is doing good" sports city.

If I had to pick one sport though it'd probably be football.

Its a football town, but I think Astros first, though it could easily be a Texans town.

This is a Texans town, by far. They have sold out EVERY GAME since it opened, even after 2-14 and 5-11 records. You saw how fast people stopped caring about the Astros once they started sucking, and yet, the Texans draw 70,000+ (even if all the seats aren't filled, people still pay)

I think of it as an Astros town since that is the franchise that has been here longest. Texans are the most popular, Rockets have the greatest achievement by any of the big 3 sports teams (Dynamo have been very, very good..but I don't think they matter to enough folks to be the bell cow for Houston)

When I was in high school, the team was the Rockets and it was not even close. Not sure what it is for the demographic of the whole city, but I would say for people under 25, the Rockets for sure.

Crap I accidently clicked Astros. I meant Rockets. The only team in Houston with a championship. I dont see why they dont get more recognition and love from Houstonians.

Well Houston is a football town so if the Texans ever get into the playoffs it'll be as big as the Astros 2005 WS run. Sadly at the same time it is more a fair weather town, see the Rockets 22 game winning streak for proof.

Trust me Houston is the Football town. If the Texans ever won the Superbowl the city would go crazy.

I voted Astros, because that logo is the most you see and the team gets so much love. But, if the Texans make it to the playoffs and even win one round, this city would go ballistic. Making it any farther, and it'll be crazy as hell. I don't think the Rockets/Astros/Dynamo would get the same treatment (hell, the Dynamo didn't).

This. It's hard saying we're a "Texans" town, but we are most definitely a football town.

Rockets first, Texans are growing into a contender if they ever win or go to a Super Bowl before the Rockets reach the finals and the Astros had a good lead back when the Oilers left but have since fallen off hard.

The Dynamo are an up and coming group but until they get their own stadium, the limitations of getting people out to Robertson will hold them back. But I know they are getting stronger yearly, although another championship would have really helped us out.

Freaking Beckham and crappy LA power outages.

Houston is behind whoever is winning.

Too bad they've never really had a year where more than one team was a true championshiop contender.

    Now THAT is sad.

When Luv Ya Blue was at it's peak, Houston was going bananas. They were just a bunch of good ole boys who represented the city well..lots of civic pride there..tough to ever match that. They would have won at least one Super Bowl if they didn't have to deal with arguably the greatest dynasty in NFL history.

Yes,our Rockets have won two titles and then you have the 80 and 86 teams.(who I believe were better than our title teams) It was quite an epiphany to finally take down those championships.

But I believe it is the Astros that most accurately represent a crossection of Houston, it's people, and to me , it's values. Nevermind the state of affairs in MLB....This is our national pastime and the fans seem to form a broader base.......reflecting what this town is about. While there are fans of all types, baseball fans tend to be a more conservative lot.

I want to add that Houston is the most fertile recruiting soil in the nation for football. One can go watch incredible high school ball and then later see these guys play on Saturdays and Sundays.

That said, I don't yet have the emotional investment in the Texans like I did in the Oilers.Even so, I know I will probably get there eventually.
