This is a spin-off from the other intro music thread.

I like that they are going back to the old song (if that's the case). But what song would you want the Rockets to play for the introduction? May choices are:

    1. James Brown ~ Get Up Off Of That Thing
    2. Lakeside ~ Fantastic Voyage
    3. KC & Sunshine Band ~ Get Down Tonight

Either "Total Eclipse Of the Heart," by Bonnie Tyler, or "The Pina Colada Song," by Rupert Holmes.

The theme from 'Benny Hill' might be a nice fallback option.

    Refused - New Noise
    Thunderstruck - AC/DC
House is a Rockin' - SRV
Terminator X to the Edge of Panic - Public Enemy
It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls

OK, I was kidding with that last one.

I remember the last year of Compaq Center and they started the college "pep squad" that used to run around the arena trying to get people hyped. They played that song, and one guy was especially feeling it and looked like he was part of the LaBare dance review.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind hearing DMX - "X Gonna Give it to ya" in the intro. I like that song. BTW to the Rockets staff, please retire Tone Loc's "Wild Thing"!

gonna make it right, tonite tonite tonite, ahh-haaa - genesis (or phil colllins?)

motorhead - im so bad baby i dont care - "i make love to mountain lions, sleep on red hot branding irons"

top gun - highway to the dangerzone

macho man randy savage - be a man - i know its a dis song directed at hulk hogan, but i think its appropriate. "be a man hulk, come on down be scared - your runnin from macho thats what i heard". and he even sings it w/ nelly style "country-grammar" where scared is pronounced "skrd".

any of those songs would pump me up.

    kid rock bawatiba
metallica for whom the bells toll

as for the wrestling suggestions:i hate the spurs but i remember in the finals vs the nets they played undertakers old theme

i like the wolfpac idea, hogans would be cool but wouldnt go with it, undertakers "limp bisquit rollin mix" or cenas song would be cool

but i say keep the who over the old song, new team, new era

    I've got it:

    Led Zepplin - Kashmir.

    Man, that would killl.

Some other options, also going for a vibe that's epic and stirring:

Thus Spoke Zarathustra (the "2001" music)
Imperial March (although that's been done before)
Pink Floyd - intro to "Time," but it wouldn't include the clocks -- know Manny would love that one.

most obscure but the best--50 points to anyone who has any clue what i'm talking about:

the "Planet Krypton theme" from the original Superman movie. Nope, this isn't the Superman anthem. It's a powerful, surging bit of music that takes place toward the beginning of the film, when the camera first zooms in on Planet Krypton and then they show Jor-El. This music has never, ever, EVER been used for any kind of sporting event or whatever, but it would be perfect.
