Okay, all I see is alot of b****ing about the Olajuwon situation, trading for Rice, and whatever else transpired this off season. Since the Rockets have F--ed up according to many, I am curious what should have happened in your world...... REALISTICLY!!. Just one given during your hypothicals, no Cato trades. Not unless your packagin up Griffin, Francis or Mobley. I am damn satisfied with what has gone on. Rice gives the Rockets the perfect compliment to Francis and Mobley. Taylor has yet to peek, and could be somewhat of a steal if he can increase his rebounding by 2.5 boards a game. Griffin was argubaly the best player in the draft, and has superstar potential written all over him. Rockets loose Olajuwon, but is able to resign a 24 y/o player who has not yet hit his prime Rockets loose SA, looses some defense and quickness, but gains one of the best pure shooters in the league. Folks, Rice is the key to making the Rockets half court game work!! Its amazing everyone is basically not geeked out on just by aquiring EG!! Its awesome this Franchise has been able to pick up 2 of the best players out of the draft over the past 3 seasons!! Alot of promise in this team. Be happy this team is not the GRIZ's
I agree this team has gotten better. The Rockets have rolled the dice with nothing to lose. -Griffen should develop into a very gifted player. -No matter how you slice or dice it Rice is a better player than Shandon Anderson. -Terrance Morris is worth a second round pick. -Hakeem is getting older. At least we got a 1st and 2nd round pick out of the deal. We could have gotten nothing. If nothing else, the Rocket management has given us something to talk about.
Fist of all I would like to say that I joined the BBS tonight because of all the negative things some of you had to say about the ROCKETS Theirs no reason to be negative . Think positive It will help your mental.... GO ROCKETS
Well, that's not fair. Getting rid of Cato's contract would've made it a much better offseason. That said, I think they've done a really good job considering the surprises (Hakeem leaving) they've had to deal with. I think that kinda threw a wrench into their whole offseason plan. But they managed to put together a team that IMHO is significantly improved over last season (given that it's not over and help at the 5 is coming) that will almost certainly make the playoffs. I'm pleased.
OK for this off season I would have liked to see us get more for our available cap room -more bang for the our bucks. We spent 48mil for Mo Taylor for 6 years - steep - but I can live with that. Now we are spending 20 mil for 3 years for Glen Rice a no defense -no running player with a whine. 27 mil will count against the cap for Rice. I could have lived without Anderson - but save the cap room and sign Marc Jackson or Jahidi White or even -I cn't believe I'm suggesting this -Olden Polynice or Roni Sekaly for the league minimum******
At first I was against the Rice trade because of the money, but after reading some of the input by some of the more sane and thinking members, I realized that this was a good deal for the Rockets. Rice brings us some playoff knowledge with him. He may not be as slow as some think. Besides if ZRB Llikes him he cain't be that bad!The Rockets cannot just sit and stagnate just becuse Dream left us. They have to improve themselves.
Well, I was hoping for CWebb and Hakeem return, thinking this would allow for a championship push. However, I've realized MY expectations were probably unreasonable since it appears CWebb had no interest in us and HO really intended on leaving all along. Given the above, I'm F__KIN' excited about what we've done as a team for the following reasons: 1. Making the EG trade alone should have every Rocks fan creamin' 2. Signing Mo for a reasonable contract given his market value and that p-word was a solid move. 3. Trading Shandon (I'm quiet and not used enough) Anderson for one of the top 5 pure shooters in the game is pure genius. As long as Rice stays healthy and comes in hungry CD will make NY GM look like a dawg with this move. 4. MoT trade, I'm not solid w/this move yet, but the Stevie Francis connection may make this move pure genius. Why? Supposedly Francis brings out the best in his competitiveness...reason 2 years ago he was talked about as a lottery type player...plus he and Steve are very, very tight...gotta keep superstud happy especially since we'll probably be moving some of his buds (Wiz {See ya...c'mom Jahidi}, Mooch {I hope not}). If he can regain that fire, we may have gotten another 2nd round steal. 5. Hakeem trade. A legend leaves and we pick up a 1st, 2nd, and trade exception (that helps us land Rice). I hated to see him go, but it was really his choice. He was gonna retire anyway, so I can live with it especially since we picked up some value and I really doubt he'll play 82 games gain...lucky if he goes for 60. Of course the off-season is not over and we may have more things in store...like Jahidi. Yes, I may have liked to get rid of Catonic, but maybe he comes out trying to prove us all wrong.
