Since I'm not expecting a complete overhaul of player change, but am expecting some players to leave which do you think are the most likley to leave. 1.Cato (all of our favoite but who'll take him) 2.Walt (a guy who shot 40+% of his 3's) 3.Anderson(Wants the man's contract without being the man) 4.Hakeem (10 million dollars a year for 55 games of 20 minutes is just borderline ridiculous) 5.K.Thomas (In my opinion, the one guy with the most trade value on this team. 6.Taylor (Only is C.Web gets here, but would Taylor wait for Webber to make up his mind at the end of the summer?) 7.Bullard (could the Bull be replaced by Langhi? no say it isn't so, what will happen to the comets telecasts?) 8.Norris (will there be a team out there to offer norris 2 million dollars a year?) And the guy's who we pretty much know are coming back are Francis, Mobley, Langi, and Collier. But, like I said, a complete overhaul of this team is unlikley. Name 3 guys whom you think won't be back. ------------------
A.K.A. vince, Langhi is also a free agent this year. My guess is the Rocks will have Bull, Mooch, Langhi & KT back. Cato, Williams and Collier are trade bait, but poor trade bait at that. I am not counting on Webber. I really wish the Rocks would trade up for someone like Brown or Curry and continue the youth movement. I would like to see a more defensively motivated MoTay back and a more offensively minded SA back as well. In the end, who knows what will happen. We have 6 players under contract, lots of cash for free agents and 2-3 draft picks. What I really beleive is that we will see a major change in personnel from last year to next year. gone like Repubilcan Senate control......(Damn!) ROCKET!!! ------------------
DEFINITELY NOT Shandon DEFINITELY WILL Francis, Mobely, Langhi, Collier, Kenny PROBABLY NOT Hakeem PROBABLY WILL Bull, Moochie,MoT REGRETTABLY WILL Cato, Walt BUBBLE Colson ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. Got to correct you on this one: Gone like Republican Senate Control.... If I may quote J.J.: DY-NO-MITE!!!!!!! Anyway, back to the subject: Webber said in his interview with Costas that he would make an early decision so that he doesn't string teams along. Good boy, Chris; very cool of you. Especially if you choose Houston. Shandon is gone. If Webber comes here, Mo is gone and Hakeem is likely gone (unless we can convince Dream to go for a "nod, nod, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more say no more" type deals; 1 year at 3 million, he BS-s the media about whether or not he will play after a year, etc.) No Webber? Mo stays. Hakeem may still be gone if Rudy goes for Marc Jackson. ------------------
Shandon won't be back. Mo won't be back. Bull won't be back. Horry will come, the backup 2 guard and the frontcourt will become priorities in the draft. I hate even putting the name Forte in my post, but as a tribute to my java editor and to Lil Francis, our lineup next year will include: Francis,Moochie Mobley,Forte Horry,Langhi,Walt Bradley,KT Dream,Johnson,Cato,Collier and the draft day decisions would have been: #13: Haywood or Bradley #18: Forte or Jefferson (if still available) #22: If we picked up Haywood, get Wallace or Morris(trade down whatever); otherwise we picked up Bradley(!), get Johnson(!!) The Rockets will keep all of their picks and have the base team above ready to compete. Loosing Cato or Walt are bonuses. Getting Webber is a bonus, but that team is 'red2 go'. ------------------ You're a fine woman, why don't you mock that draft up [This message has been edited by Achebe (edited May 30, 2001).]
Hey HEB, Horry is a better sf than Langhi, isn't he? I noticed you only had 2 pgs on your roster prediction. ------------------ snap crackle pop
For sure Francis is comming back... after that who knows. ------------------ My blood is made of Rocket fuel !
I wondered about this before; but for which player? I used to think Riley would not trade Brian Grant but now I have read articles where he's ready to blow up the team. Dream and Shandon for Grant and Ricky Davis? I'm not too, too high on Grant (overpaid) but if he landed us Webber... File this under the "anything's possible" category. ------------------
Anderson and Hakeem are just as good as gone. And we'll soon know about Taylor when Webber makes his decision. Just good for us, we'll be selecting a sf in this draft. And with the 18 or 22nd pick a Center would be a possibility. ------------------
Achebe's line-up is the simplest route the Rockets can take, and would still be a top notch team. Add Taylor to the mix and that team would be a vast improvement from last year. 1)Hakeem is gone 2)Anderson will leave 3)Bullard will retire 4)Taylor will stay ------------------
Thanks Rocketbooster. I like that lineup too... and it's so easily in the Rockets grasp, all the while using the 13,18 and 22 to their potential rather than packaging the three to get a Battier, Gasol, White or Diop. That lineup looks good... and if Webber or Mo want to come on board, have at it... but I'd rather overpay Dream than Mo. ------------------ You're a fine woman, why don't you mock that draft up
I was reading the latest ESPN the magazine and in an article in the back it suggested that both Shandon and Dream could end up in Miami. Maybe Dan Fegan has something up his sleeve? ------------------
I thought the deal Hakeem wanted was 10 million over 2 years? That would only be 5 million a year. ------------------
