I stole this question from Oink because I was only aware of a couple of them and wanted to see what is mostly used here. I was using WMP but am now using Winamp. Is there something better?
I saw the Oink poll. The amount of people on Winamp blows my mind. And iTunes? That thing is the anti-christ.
I dont use Itunes to listen to music.. but I do use it for my ipod. Windows Media Player for computer IPOD for daily commute
Media Player Classic. It has an interface that looks like the old windows media player, but it can play all kinds of media files. It's light on resources and doesn't require installation, it's a straight executable.
I use Winamp, but i really do not see any difference between programs. Ok the interface is different. But i do not care how it looks, i use it for music. so i really do not need to look at it. So can anybody explain to me what makes one program better than another?
@Work, amarok (or kaffiene). @Home. Windows Media Player (because I am lazy). When I am less lazy, dBpowerAMP Audio Player.
I use Winamp when I listen to music on my PC because it plays .flac files. I also use it to transcode the .flac files to .mp3 and then transfer them to my iPod. For stereo listening I use Sonos. I've used Fubar and it's cool, but you really have to be into tweaking to get it to look like you want it to.
At work I use Winamp. It's small and works well with Shoutcast streaming music stations. At home I use Musicmatch 8.1. I set up the library index files for it a long time ago, and all of my computers share the central index.
