What player(s) that Morey wants to spend the MLE on is better than Landry?

I am hearing people saying that the Rockets will lose Landry because either

    (1) they will get sick of holding onto their MLE and sign someone with some or all of it, even if that means they risk rendering themselves unable to match Landry's offer, or

    (2) Landry will receive a offer for most or all of the $5.5 million MLE which would cause them not to match.

So, do you have any thoughts on either

    (1) Who this possible MLE or below signee is that would cause Morey to give up on his ability to match Landry and why Morey likes this guy better than Landry?

    or

    (2) What Morey wants to do with the MLE money if he decides not to match a Landry offer? Who will he give it to that's better than Landry?

My answer to both questions is: Nobody.

There is not one player out there reasonably available for the MLE that the Rockets would want more than landry.

I agree. Unless someone offers him more than the MLE, which would be insane, he'll be back.

I agree with Morey, though...I would like to see him have further testing on his knee. We've seen him when his knee isn't right, and THAT Carl Landry is not worth $5mm per

I guarantee you there is no one better than Landry that could be had with MLE out there.

Best FA's still available for around MLE:
James Posey - Would be nice
Nenad Krstic - Still iffy after his injury
Sasha Vujacic - Brent Barry signing makes Sasha irrelevant (asking for 5 mil a year anyways..)
    J.R Smith - A bit of a headcase, but a hell of a shooter
Dorrell Wright - Pretty nice young SF, would believe that Miami would match any offers below 4 million.
Delonte West - Would be nice, don't know how much Cavs would match
Josh Childress - Atlanta should match any offers

JR Smith is intriguing, but he'll shoot you out of games a lot of times

Still think I would rather have Landry

Alternative question: What teams want to spend the MLE on Landry?

    Answer: No team!

Not spend MLE. But offer MLE and have to wait 7 days to see what happens.

None of the "star" players were likely to be available for the MLE. The 2nd tier MLE level players who have signed up for it may not be worth the entire exception either, even if some of them are better than Landry. The MLE can be split between Landry and another player but the Rockets are unlikely to do that.

    Landry's numbers per 36 minutes:

    17.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.3 tunrover.

    21.9 PER, 64.1% TS%.

Find me someone else who can do that.

Landry with a healthy knee. He isn't worth $5mm to me if his knee isn't checked first.

I know his stats were awesome for the year and I love his game, but when his knee was balky he was a shell of what is when it is healthy.

I'd give him the full MLE, but only if his knee checks out again

Landry is not worth MLE. For around 3 mil, yes I would want him. His knee gotta be a concern. He is only 22 and been missing games like that last year. How could that not be a concern unless you are blind.

Landry only played 40+ nba games in total! His stats was solid for a role player, but wasn't a star performance. People are getting crazy! No team will want him for the full MLE. I think 2 millions per year is a fair deal.

Rockets are probably going to have to overpay for Landry, right now I would say 3-4 mil-ish.

Knee checks out? Then offer half the MLE, if someone offers the full MLE match it.

Knee doesn't check out? Then you know he is unreliable, move to a proper target. Or pay him a minimal amount if we can't get someone else taht's worth it.

I love his game when he is healthy. Key word is healthy though. No healthy knee? No thank you then. "Balky Landry" I can do without.

I think the knee thing is overrated.

The guy got a hard bump to the knee? Obviously it was going to limit him for a while.
