Okay, the Rockets have engineered two great draft day trades. Griffin is a forward who many thought would be the number one pick and Morris has lottery talent and Final Four experience. The question is where we go from here.

PG Steve Francis PG Moochie Norris
SG Cattino Mobley SG Shandon Anderson
SF Eddie Griffin SF Terrence Morris
PF Mo Taylor PF Kenny Thomas
    C Hakeem/Cato C Cato/Collier

    Issues

    1. Obviously the Webber sweepstakes can still proceed. If the Rockets handle this right they will have at least Taylor to fall back on. If they handle it wrong they will be left holding the proverbial bag.

    2. Shandon Anderson is a free agent. Hopefully, this guy is able to admit to himself that he is not a frontline player. If he is able to do that he could become a decent sixth man at the SG/SF slots.

    3. The Hakeem situation seems to be up to Hakeem. Chances are that we won't get Webber, but if we have to accomodate Anderson and Taylor there might not be enough room for a big contract for Hakeem. Will he be willing to accept the middle class exception when Cato is making more money?

    4. Now, the Rockets have some extra spots to deal with. On the forefront, what happens to Walt Williams and Matt Bullard with the acquisition of these two small forwards? Yes, Morris is a second round pick, but you don't trade a future number one unless you have a pretty good idea you are getting a contributor. What about Langhi and Carlos Rogers? Is this team going to have to eat some contracts or can they do a two for one or three for one swap with someone to trim some of the fat?
