Not seen the aftermath...seen first hand as it happened and/or been though.

    Personally I've seen:
    Waterspouts (several times)
    Tornados (7 of them)
Earthquake (1 while on my honeymoon in CA - insert endless jokes here)
Hurricane (2 - Alicia and some pitiful 1 I don't remember the name to)

If you evacuated before the storm hit like a smart person probably would have, then no because you only saw the aftermath.

But seriously, I haven't been involved in any natural disasters that would make the news/ involved lots of destruction/deaths, touch wood.

Several earthquakes. I have a bad case of motion sickness, so this was pretty bad for me.

    Also evacuated for Rita.

Fell on some dog poop and had to smell like schitte the whole day.

my mom sent us to my dads in Austin right before Alicia hit, so I technically wasn't in Houston for that. A Tornado hit our backyard almost exactly 2yrs ago. We were truly blessed it didn't hit 50ft further south or it would've hit our house. Our back fence wasn't blown down..it was literally picked up and taken away. You can see some fence pieces, but those are neighbors fence panels. We Never found our fence panels. Although we did see one panel on top of someones house..it didn't match our stain.

Playset was killed and the Grill was literally twisted. We feel really blessed that it didn't hit our house and noone was hurt.

Earthquakes (many, being from California), Tornado (never one that touched down nearby though), wildfires (when I was living in SoCal, had to evacuate for that one).

I was working in the Bear Creek Pro shop when a twister went right over it in 1992. It was night and I was closing down, the hail was rattling really loud, I went to the door to look out but it wouldn't push open. I went and got under the counter. After the noise stopped I walked out and trees were down everywhere, my car windows exploded. Two cart kids had been inside a car in the parking lot the whole time, their eyes were white all the way around.

Hurricanes seem endless. Alicia went right over my house in the Woodlands in 1983. The wind blew like crazy for 12 hours, then when the eye went over I walked outside and looked up at clear blue sky, then the wind blew like crazy for another 12 hours.

    Others:
On my trip to Patagonia, I saw from a distance a volcano eruption. Very cool to see, but nowhere near as terrifying or loud as I imagine Mt. St. Helens must have been back in '82.

Drought should be added to the list because as a natural disaster it can be extremely harmful in places like East Africa (for them, the 2011 drought was the worst in 60 years). The one we had last year here in Texas was nothing in comparison. It was really disquieting to see bodies of emaciated children lying by the side of the road and later hearing reports that about 30k children aged under 6 died in three months alone.

Closest I've went through was Tropical Storm Allison and a few nasty blizzards in Iowa, thankfully I haven't been through much else.
