i was just wondering. if you have a parent that's gay... does that make you more likely to be gay too? being SERIOUS guys.
While I don't think having a gay parent gives you a higher chance of BEING a homosexual, I think it may increas your chances of living a homosexual lifestyle. There is a difference IMO.
Are they? or Are they suppressing because they grew up in a time when it was not openly accepted? In fact to an extent it may have been considered a mental illness? never know . . . IMO . . .It is Experiences Rocket River
I always thought being homosexual or heterosexual depended on the environment you grew up in, i.e. if your dad acted like a woman you're more likely to be gay. I mean, if you're a guy.
what makes you gay??? I'd say if you're a man and you like to have anal sex with other men, there's a good chance that you're gay...
So does that mean we have to have anal sex with men to see if we are gay? If we like it, we are gay...if not, then we're not? What are you trying to say A-Train? Somehow your moniker takes on a new meaning...
I've found the answer. http://www.b3ta.com/spidermanwillmakeyougay/ I know it's not serious, but anyway...
I'm sure there are some genetic factors that influence the gay predisposition, but doubt if that's all of it... for one thing, obviously any gay person's parents were straight, or bi, or at least trying to be, at one time. (excluding adoptions and in-vitro fertilization, which weren't really an option for gay couples until recently) I know there has been a lot of repression over the years and people trying to make themselves straight, but still you would think the percentage of gays in the population would be decreasing due to natural selection... just like what you learned in biology class. It's not survival of the fittest, but of those most fit (or willing) to reproduce. Environmental or cultural factors probably play a part: in cultures where it's acceptable, I'm sure more people will experiment with it even if they don't stick to it. We all know someone who plays for both teams. (Females especially, I've noticed, try it for a while and sometimes decide they're straight again later... or, of course, you could be bi.) I've also heard that many gay men lacked a strong male role model, or their father's active presence in their life... of course, I'm sure this doesn't explain all cases. I'll leave the rest of it to those who have felt homosexual tendencies, since I never have and I can't identify personally with why anyone would want to do that...
You guys remember that story from like three or four years ago? I believe some guy got in a car accident and was suing the person who hit his car from behind. He claimed that getting hit from behind made him gay! So if a car hits your car from the back that can make you gay.
The answer is genetics. Modern science accepts this, religious bigots resist it. But I'll play... I guess this parent argument is that having a gay role model would make you gay. Catholic priests, anyone? What's the statistic? Like, 85% of Catholic priests are child molesters? So I'd say that if you're Catholic, you'll probably grow up to be a gay child molester. Man, I just never get tired of this stuff. Will someone please start the basketball season?
If you go to askjeeves.com and ask him if he is gay, you'll get the following response... "Actually, I prefer the term jovial."
