This was in front of my house this morning. I was going out for a walk and I got within 2 feet of it before I saw it. I jump about 5 feet back and let out a little scream. I don't know who killed it or where the head is. Anyone know what kind it is? The picture sucks. It looked like it was around 3 to 4 feet.
copperhead was my guess - then after a google image search, i think you may have found your match: then again, Texas rat snake seems to be a close fit as well:
honestly, i think you'd need to see the head to be sure. if it's a triangular shaped head, that's a copperhead.
I thought it might of been a king snake but I was unable to find any pictures that looked similar to it. The pictures I've seen of the rat and bull snake look like it. I'm almost positive it wasn't a copper head but then again it is hard to tell without the head. Also it didn't seem as light in color as the copper head shown above.
You may have the next Jeffrey Dahmer living in your neighborhood. Who ran off with the snake's head? What's next...a dog's head?
I was looking around for more pictures to compare and found this one of a rat snake. I have bricks like this on my house.
ready for this??? my parents have aluminum siding on their home. when i was in high school, we were coming in one night from eating dinner out. i got to the back door first and began to unlock it. i looked up over the backdoor light where lizards and bugs usually hang out...and noticed a lizard-like something...but instead of hanging down, it's "tail" went back up into the ledge of the siding. it was a snake. we knocked it down with a broom and killed it. BABY RATTLESNAKE. yeah, that thing was hanging right above my head. not good. i STILL look up there when i'm opening that door to go visit my parents.
Easy, that would be a dead snake, the only kind I like and the only kind allowed on our land. I have lots of copperheads they rarely get over 2 ft long.- 3 ft. is very large for a copperhead.
I have a friend from high school who is psychotic when it comes to snakes. I saw him pull a water mocassin out of a bayou once and just start slamming his head against a picnic bench. I'm not a fan of snakes, and would run from them. This guy likes them. To be fair, check out his "about me" on his site: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=60600141
