I am getting just a tad bit irritated with the word "bandwagoner" being thrown around on this board. I dont think any of us are bandwagoning Rocket fans. I mean what the hell are we suppose to bandwagon too? We havent really done anything since 97. There is nothing to bandwagon to. If any of us were bandwagoners we would be on a Laker, Sixer, Spur or Kings board.

Some people on this board think the Rockets can do no wrong. Then they call other people bandwagoners if they happen to criticize the Rockets. I am sorry, but I always thought that being a fan could also mean that you could criticize the Rockets when they deserve it.

Hell yeah we love the Rockets. We love em when the win and when the suck! But when they suck this bad I think we have the rite to voice our opinion. I dont know why all of you are so eager to see ZRB off. I used to hate the guy, but I think he has toned it down alot. He is not the only one over here who is depressed with the Rockets this season I think.

Damn skippy R0ckets03. I've always liked what you post. We criticize the Rockets on a piss poor performance and now we're being called bandwagoners? Gimme a break. Some people need to get off the Rockets-are-not-allowed- to-be-criticized-just-because-they're-the-Rockets crap.

Well, there's a bit of a difference between "criticizing your team"(The Rocketes should really play griffin more, or, Stop Dribbling moochie) and being a bandwagoner(I'm going to quit cheering for the team, booing the home team, etc.).

You can criticize while still supporting the team, but there are some things being mentioned that smack of turning on the team.

Im going to root for the rockets no matter what. But I think that they suck, the offense sucks, everything they do out there is p***y stuff. They get lucky on alot of the games they have won. They win because of luck, not skills. IF they have the shots going then they win the games.

Very pitiful to watch this team play. But im still a fan.

    :(

How is "booing your team" makes you a bandwagoner. I think it is the exact opposite. I care so deeply about them that it hurts me to watch crap like this.

I think we can all agree that NY sports fans living in NY can be labeled one of the best kind of sport fans in the world? Well they will boo the hell out of their team if its a lack of effort. On the contrary they will applaud a team if they lose, but have put up a good effort. Are they all bandwagoners?!?!?!

I think I was the one that congratulated the Rockets for putting up a fight against SA, Lakers and Sac. Those losses I can handle, but three consecutive choke jobs against teams like Grizz, Knicks and BULLS - I CANT!

I think I'm coming to realize that I'm kind of a bandwagoner, but closer to #3. I have to admit that I haven't been watching Rockets games lately. I think I've missed the last 4 or 5. Don't get me wrong, I want them to win, and I root for them.

I just think that I wouldn't enjoy watching them suck and it would ruin a whole night for me. So I don't know what type of fan I am. All I know is when they're competitive, I am diehard, and I get pissed during games....but when they're this bad, I'm not pissed any more; I just stop watching.

I guess it's like a breaking point. Like a family member who is spiraling down the path to become a drunken w****. You root and try to help and criticize and all this stuff....but then comes a time when you just give up on her; a breaking point where you just don't care any more. It's not that you want her to have that life, you will still hope she recovers...but you decide to just move on with your own life.

I think the Rocks have gone past my breaking point. I still consider myself a fan, but not a good one any more.

How lucky you have been! ;)

I am closer to #2. I do criticize the Rockets, but the next day I'll forget what I have said of them the night before ... love is blind! :D

Does it take an unconditional Rockets fan to love Kelvin Cato and his overpaid rump?

Rudy T needs a little more lessons on communicating. That or Glen Rice should trade in his number for 33...

Remember 2 weeks ago the Rockets were # 10 in CBS power rankings and also # 10 in the USA today poll posted every Monday by David Dupree. Dupree noted that the Rockets had already had 3 overtime games. This indicated a lot of heart and stone hard effort. I was at the OT game with LA - WE nearly beat the NBA champs. Shaq and Kobe played mucho minutes that nite. They barely got out of the arena.

This is what makes it so hard for me-I know we lost Steve Francis and Cuttino is ailling, but we have fallen so far. I like the rest of the team except for Rice and Collier, but we got beaten by the Bulls?????

I am a tried and true fan. We have all seen Robert Horry not run down the court or Charles Barkley come to camp 30 lb overweight-pure lack of caring or effort. But the young guys we have now I think are trying. We have a great coach. The league is very competitivee and it is difficult to compete in the West, but the Grizz and Bulls?????

I will still be attending about 10 games on my 1/2 season ticket package. I will cheer, I will never boo anyone at a game but a referee ( never a Rocket-I never have boo ed a Rocket or left a game early to beat traffic-even if we were 20 pts behind). I am with the Houston Rockets through the good and the bad.

To put this in perspective- remember in '97 when we made it to the final 4 against UTAH? We had some games that season with all that talent that made me scratch my head for lack of effort.

What must Francis think??? I am worried about re - signing him. I bet he wonders if he would have been better off with the Grizz. If he were playing with Battier, Abdul Rahim, and Pau Gasol, he would be on a much more talented team, but with no coach.

I just hope we cam keep Rudy, Steve, Eddie G, Cuttino, Torres, and Tierre Brown. I hope they do not blow up the team.

It is hard being any type of Fan right now. It really tests your fortitude and resolve. I do not have a problem with any criticism from any type of fan. The reality is that whether you are a bandwagoner or not, all fans are important to the game, because these are who fills out the arena and line the streets during the Championship parades. Whatever happens, you cannot give up...

Take a step back and imagine being a season ticket holder right now, not the corporate type, but the real fan. Imagine dropping $24, $46, or $84 per game knowing that your team does not run effective offense, half your starters are racked with injuries and that your team will probably miss the playoffs for the 3rd straight year. It stings really badly as you walk up those long stairs heading into the Compaq cavern! But, you still do it...you cannot resist to watch and see if there is a glimmer of hope. It is kinda like playing golf. The most frustrating game on planet earth, yet you play for that one drive, that one pitching wedge to the green and next to the pin, that one birdie or par to get you through to the next 18 holes!

Right now it stinks and we may be out of the running by January, but you know this team does not give up. They are not playing well right now. They are missing point blank shots and wide open jumpers. God knows we are getting the shots on the perimeter like gang busters. Any team will beat you if you shoot 40% or less in this league. But, something good will come out of this. Things are bad right now, but lets just all focus some positive energy. Be critical yes, but support the team! Boo or Cheer if you want, the point being that you did show up to the game or you did watch it from your virtual compaq center seat. Either way, the support is there. Just keep coming back and watching.

I used to be a fanatic, but when the Rockets forced Dream out, that blindly-loving part of me died... Choice 3.

The Rockets didn't force Dream out but that's another story. I'm sure Dream is happier. I doubt there are any bandwagon fans around, why would bandwagon fans hang out at a Rockets site?

Good Job with the Poll there R0ckets03, 60 votes is pretty dang good.

There are only a few good things about losing this much and having injuries. One is the rookies get to play and play well in some cases (Griff and Oscar). Two is the BS bandwagon fans shutup and quit talking about the Rockets, like they ever knew what they were talking about.... :D

Type of Fan, I am : Watch until I am sick, then watch the post game show, then watch SportsCenter 2 or 3 times. Then get on CC.net and read the bash Cato/Fire Rudy threads. Still a diehard #2 fan on your poll.

It will all be better when Wink gets back on the court.

Thanks to ROckets03 for starting this thread. The poll was good. On 610 am radio this a.m. Russ Small made a point (I do not always agree with him) that in our situation now we should play the rookies, and learn the team. This I think is an opportunity to experiment with the zone. What do we really have to lose??? I'm not saying pull a Greg Poppovich and tank the season to get Duncan, but do some daring experimentation.

    Running

    Play rookies

Learn the zone / hire a college coach if necessary to teach it

    Do not give up

    Do not lose Francis

Russ Small is smart sometimes, and sometimes he's not.

THERE IS NO WAY the Rocks should start to experiment simply because they want to play the young guys. If they want to play them while still giving themselves a chance to win, then fine. But don't insert EG into the starting lineup just because he's young and looking to the future (if you think he's done something to deserve it, though...).

The team is in the midst of a losing streak, but it's not even the quarter mark of the season yet. There is a LOOONG way to go.

Don't forget that in '92-'93 (the year they lost to the Sonics in the second round 4-3), the Rocks were very average in the first half of the season, but then blew everyone out of the water in the second half. No team (sans Jordan II's Bulls or the current Lakers) is going to be consistently good all season, especially when there is so much youth involved.

I believe I told Rockets03 the last time I was in Houston that the Rocks would have a max 7 game losing streak and a max 8 game winning streak... and that they would finish right around 45-47 wins again. In other words, they'd be mediocre all year with a few flashes of brilliance that result in a +.500 season.

I'll stick by that. I just hope the losing streak doesn't get any worse.

Well Rock104 I told you we will make the playoffs and I still stick by that. I know we suck now and I am yelling all over the place, but I still think we have enough to make the playoffs.

    I'm hooked.

There is always something to cheer for and watch. Hell, this is the NBA. This is the best sports ticket around, in my *only* opinion. I guess I'm in a big minority here. I can't bare *not* to watch the NBA and my team. As for "criticism," that is kinda too insignificant for my view of "What kind of a fan are you?" to put in the same post

I must have tickets, and I love watching us play live regardless. If I didn't have Rockets tix, I'd be going to see a worse Rice Owls team, anyhow.
