Mine was definately, that 3 pointer Stockton took to beat us in the final seconds of the Western Conference Championship in game 7 vs. the Jazz.
That is mine as well, but the pain came from Malone grabbing our PG and dragging him out of the play. Biggest moving pick I have ever seen.
ditto though watching the evening news the night lew lloyd and mitchell wiggins were removed wasn't a picnic either.
My most painful memory is the double OT loss to Seattle in the 1987 playoffs v. Seattle. This was the game where Hakeem had like 49 pts, 25 rebs and 7 or 8 blocks. Hurculean effort and the team left it all on the court. I was 12 years old at the time and that was the 1st and last time I ever cried because of a loss. 2nd has to be the Stockton shot. 3rd was the infamous Pippen/TO game vs. the Lakers in the playoffs. I realized then that that Hakeem and Barkley's runs were officially over.
The jazz one is tops, also the loss to Seattle in game 7 in 93 after several horrible officiating calls in the 4th period and overtime (the 6th foul on hakeem after a clean block of Perkins, plus a pass by some sonic (or deflected by one, I don't recall) that flew seven feet over OT's head which was called out on houston). That game was harder to take because the only reason why it was played in Seattle (i think the home team won every game that series) was because David Robinson tipped in a basket a full second after the clock had expired and the regular season ended in the final game to keep the rockets from getting home court. That just mad me mad.
The Stockton shot is too easy... The two games after retro night last season, against Portland and Utah. Never have I seen such a pathetic performance and overall lack of effort from an entire team as those two games. Not a single player on the team showed even the slightest shred of effort or dignity. The worst part was that they came right after one of the best games of the year against the Magic.
Definitely the Malone tackle! Nothing else even compares. We were totally robbed. I hate the Jazz and always will.
Oh yeah, I remember being at the blowout home loss to the Knicks last year when the Rockets shot a team record 28%. That was probably the worst performance by any sports team I have ever seen in person.
The Stockton shot... really killed my hopes as a rocket fan.. after that thrilling shot made by eddie johnson putting my hopes up.. then stockton pretty much killed it hahah
I think my most painful rockets memories are overshadowed by the rest of my teams consistently choking. For instance, the astros ability to make it out of the first round, or even get to the first round. UT the past four years. Oilers-Bills, do we even have to mention that? At least the Rockets have given us 2 championships, nothin to complain about there.
The last four years with Francis at the point, which I regard as the "stupidball" era and which will, mercifully come to an end soon.
Seeing the Dream deteriorate so rapidly was pretty freaking painful The offense since his decline has been pretty sad too.
This is mine as well...I remember sitting in the Summit after he hit the shot in disbelief! I kept looking at the clock because I was hoping somehow there would be like a second or something left.
Good topix.......... Yea. I also went to the Knicks game, when we shot a historic 27.5% from the field........i was disgusted. Also is just the entire year of the 2001-2002 year. That was pittiful, we did not look the houston rockets. It was more like the Nuggets. Now I feel what Denver feels. but o whell, they are nuggest fans, and we are rox fans. Which is totally different
Rockets Red Glare, omg whata night for you. You went to that game...........thats terrible, I can't stand stockton.
The year(s) we lost our dynasty-in-waiting to cocaine. Coupled with Ralph blowing out his knee. That team would have dominated for 10 years.
