Just curious to see what others views are on these topics...please don't derail the thread by getting into debates on any of these topics, I just want to know the bare minimum...

Gun Control - For it

Abortion - Pro-life

Prayer in School - tough one, but I believe that there should be a minute of "silent meditation" to be observed at the beginning of each school day...students can do with that minute whatever they wish

Foreign Policy - would like to see the U.S. become neutral like Switzerland in choosing sides with other nations

Rights for Homosexuals - against because I don't think you should give rights to people who have a certain lifestyle that they live, but only to races and sexes. If we give certain rights to homosexuals then why not drug users? Drug users live a certain lifestyle albeit differently from homosexuals, but a lifestyle that is different from the norm

Taxation - for it when it helps the nation, i.e. for education and educational programs. Also against tax breaks for the wealthy.

I would be curious to see if my views make me a Republican, a Democrat, or something in between.

*Gun Control - For it
*Abortion - Every woman should be allowed to get a limited number of abortions (2-3 max)
*Capital Punishment - Completely, positively, whole heartedly in favor of it.
*Rights for Homosexuals - Against it. I dont want an adopted kid being raised by two guys or two women.
*U.S. Foreign Policy - Do I really need to answer this one?
*Prayer in School - In favor if it does not favour one particular religion.

I knew I was leaving something out!

Thanks 03, for mentioning capital punishment.

I'm for it.

Foreign Policy Involvement
Taxation
Capital Punishment

Gun Control -- For it.

Abortion -- Pro-choice. I would also like to see much easier access to and insurance coverage of birth control of all kinds.

Prayer in school -- Against it. It violates the separation of church and state.

Rights for Homosexuals -- Full rights. There is no reason they should not be allowed to marry, adopt children, etc...

Foreign Policy Involvement -- Limited involvement. Less wars for oil, more humanitarian cooperation such as the Kyoto Treaty.

Taxation -- I have no problem with taxes when they go toward programs that help my fellow citizens (welfare, head start, etc...) It's part of the cost of living in a civilized society. I am against huge tax breaks for corporations.

Capital Punishment -- Against.

Gun Control - in favor

Abortion - pro choice

Prayer in school - Frankly, I think this has a lot more to do with the parents than the kids. Ask a 10-year-old for a moment of silence and you are more likely to get a spit wad. Ask a 5-year-old and you get a snot bubble. I have no problem with a moment of silence if the schools feel it is necessary, but Christian prayers or prayers with the word "God" in them I don't want.

Rights for Homosexuals - All humans should have rights be they gay, straight, man, woman, child, adult, black, white, green, whatever. I think people should be evaluated by who they are as individuals, not based on their gender, race, religion, age or sexual preference.

Foreign Policy Involvement - Personally, I'd like to see more foreign cooperation. I'd like to see other countries do more to pull their weight instead of relying on us and us be more of an equal member of the global community rather than a superpower that has to bear the burden of supporting anything and everything on our own AND policing the planet.

Taxation - I am fine with taxation as long as the projects paid for are influenced by actual need rather than corporate interests. I'd like to see taxes cover services, protection and quality of life for Americans, particularly those who are less fortunate than the rest of us. Personally, I believe that if we lessened the amount of funding to monied interests, we'd cut our taxes significantly AND still have enough to serve the needs of our citizens.

Capital Punishment - Against. I don't support it for several reasons:

- I am against taking the lives of other beings
- It is more expensive than life imprisonment
- It is unfairly applied too often to people who are either too poor to defend themselves or to minorities
- It has been shown that innocent people, no matter what you do, have died as the result of it. Any lost life by a mistake is too much.

Gun Control -- For it.

Abortion -- Pro-choice.

Prayer in school -- Against it. If you want to pray, go to a church or do it at home.

Rights for Homosexuals -- Homosexual marriage should be the Church's decision. Marriage is a religious ceremony after all.

Foreign Policy Involvement -- All US surplus should be given to Canada "as a present" for being such nice neighbours. :)

Taxation -- Tax breaks should favor the common, everyday laborer, not big corporations.

Capital Punishment -- Against, because DNA evidence is only 99.9% accurate.

Expos -- They should remain in Montreal.

Gun Control - Should be minimal. Firearms are impossible to control anyway, just like drugs.

Abortion - NO! We have no right to deny HUMAN BEINGS(which like it or not, embryos are) their lives.

Prayer in School - NO! This is what makes nations like Palestine and Afghanistan what they are. Jefferson knew what the **** he was doing.

Foreign Policy - As long as we don't start any wars, I don't care...

Rights for Homosexuals - I'm for them... It's like not allowing people with foot fetishes to adopt.

Taxation - Socialist all the way here...

Capital Punishment - NO! NO! NO! The death penalty is the ultimate hypocrisy and as stated earlier, we have no right to deny human beings their lives. Besides, there are things worse than death. ;)

Gun Control-For it

Abortion-Against it

Rights for Homosexuals- Against marrying, public displays of affection, and adoption

Prayer in School- For it

Taxation - Tax breaks should favor those that create jobs, maintains adequate wages for the bottom half of employees and for start-up companies.

Capital Punishment- Either life in prison with no rights, bread and water meals, and forced to earn their living working 18 hour work days creating something that will be sold to earn their keep. For the sickest of crimes... im for good old medieval torture.

Foreign Policy- ill pass on this one

Gun Control - Should be like Australia, Europe, and Canada. No civilian should be allowed to possess a gun.

Abortion -Absolutely and positively pro-choice. I feel that a fetus is either a mass of tissue, or a human life, depending on the point of view of the mother.

Prayer in School - Complete crap. There shouldn't even be a pledge of allegiance.

Foreign Policy - Very mixed feelings on this issue. America does a lot right, and a lot wrong.

Rights for Homosexuals- They should have the same rights as anyone else. If they want to marry, so be it.

Taxation - Needs to be re-organized. People in the 30-100 thousand range are taxed too much. Tax money should be used for more worthy causes. I like sports, but rather than constantly building new stadiums, tax money should be used to maintain public parks, schools, etc.

Capitol Punishment- Against it. If even one innocent person is executed by mistake, then it is not worth it. Killing is killing.

Some could call me a hypocrite because I support abortion, but not execution. Well, I feel that there is a difference between living, breathing people, and partially developed fetuses.

-Extremely liberal democrat.

My dad owns two shotguns.

Hunting is pretty popular in some parts of Canada.

Gun control - for it, but really only for cap guns.

Abortion - capital punishment I - every other preganancy involving people under the poverty line should be forced to have one...every third for those over.

Capital punishment - part two - kill 'em young, kill 'em old...who cares.

Prayer in school - all for it...as long as it is Zoroastrian-only prayer.

Homosexuals - everyone is bisexual, get over it.

Foreign policy - joint cooperation among the first world to work towards true democratic educational movements in the third world, establishing a framework upon which democratic movements can be formed, upon which time economic aid can be granted.

Taxation - all wages over 2 million get taxed 80 % (meaning only the amount over 2 mil is taxed at 80, not all of it...below is taxed as we have now, or some other kind of system involving exploitation and embarrasment.

Well, I know there are tougher anti-gun laws, and fewer gun-related deaths per capita in Canada.

Outlaw, let it go. Manny made a point to say NOT to argue in this thread. Let people have their opinions and you can have yours. I'm sure there are just as many who would heavily criticize you for your ideals and beliefs. You just have to accept that. You, of all people, know that very well. I like the ability just to look at the beliefs of others objectively without this degrading into another heated argument.

Gun Control -- For increased gun control, ie checks at gun shows and outlawing more military style weapons.

Abortion -- Reluctantly pro-choice. I'd rather it wasn't something people had to consider.

Prayer in school -- Against it.

Rights for Homosexuals -- For civil union laws in place of typical marriage.

Foreign Policy Involvement -- Cut back involvement. Let regional powers watch their blocks for a while. Prefer more of a mediator role than a policeman role.

Taxation -- For simplification without letting rich people off the hook.

Capital Punishment -- Against for some of the reasons already stated. Cost, unfairness to minorities/poor, and possibility of errors.

Gun Control: For it

Abortion: Pro-Choice... I beleive it would be the mother's (or father's, or both) choice to have to make.

Prayer in school: Against it, since anyone can pray at anytime, I don't think it should be forced. And if someone is not religous, I don't think they would like that to much.

Rights for Homosexuals: For it, same rights as straight couples, Marrage, laws, etc... I think adoption is a good thing.

Foreign Policy Involvement: No comment

Taxation: For it, as long as the wealthy pay the same percentage relative of their income as the not so wealthy.

Capital Punishment: Against it
