Okay, we probably have done this recently but I watched "Barry Lyndon" again recently and I really think that movie was the overlooked Kubrick masterpiece. That movie has always been known for its cinematography and costumes, but if you really watch it closely, you see that it follows all of Kubrick's other themes of isolation, etc. I also would like to include "Marnie" by Hitchcock. Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren (the much maligned one) do outstanding jobs in what was considered a failure but is now an important movie in the Hitchcock canon. So, "Barry Lyndon" and "Marnie" are my two choices. When I say underrated, I mean it was a movie that was a flop at first or never was a box office smash and could have been hammered by the critics.
Miracle Mile - stars Anthony Edwards from ER Nothing But Trouble - Chevy Chase, Akroyd, Candy, Demi Moore Last Action Hero - Arnold Seven Years in Tibet - Brad Pitt Just a couple that I feel are very underrated. baqui99 - tommy boy isn't underrated is it? Black Sheep might be, but definitely not to me.
Meet Joe Black, IMO, has to be one of the most underrated movies of all time. Another one that didn't get much attention, was The Salton Sea as well as U-Turn.
living out loud- holly hunter, queen latifah, and danny devito. great movie that slipped under the radar.
Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner. I maybe wrong, but it never gets mentioned on this site at least. I love that movie.
it's sad that no doubt's only kick asspin song was released... at first... on the soundtrack to this movie.
dammit, ReallyBaked, took my pick Go was an underrated movie and was caught up with the Matrix hoopla since it was released about the same time. Others I consider underrated: Swingers BASEketball - another case of being released at a bad time (There's Something About Mary came out around the same time) Rounders - got me into poker Starship Troopers
Granted....but I was moving forward with the assumption that everyone knows it's not highly rated (at least not as highly rated as I feel it should be).
