    In honor of Fatty's fast food and attention thread, I wanted to know what some of you enjoy eating that is also healthy.

    After the strain that last summer caused (ex), I completely turned myself around. I had to. I didn't expect to live 10 good years on the diet that I had. I was around 220, wearing a tight 36" pants. I'm down to 188 with 32" waste.

    I love eating fresh fruits and whole grain stuff with lean meats. I need to eat more veggies, but am cooking crock pot meals with veggies in it, so it's not a total loss.

    I quit alcohol, pills, smoking, and eating junk in mass quantities and started exercising almost daily. I cut down on coffee, because I don't need as much. I adopted 2 kittens from the SPCA to keep me company the evenings that I read or listen to music. It has made nothing short of a profound difference in my life, but it all started when I stopped taking in all those calories.

    I do have a junk meal once a week, but I don't crave it much.

    Anyway, I love fresh fruit and binge on pretzels as a filler. I drink plenty of water to compensate for sodium.

    I physically feel 10 years younger and thank God everyday for the strength he has given me, which reminds me... Enough about me.

    How bout you?

    Do you have any good healthy snacks you would like to share. Maybe some quick healthy dinners for the on the go people?

    I'm having a great day and am taking it in, because there weren't many for a long time.

    I'm on a serious grapefruit kick right now. I eat 1-2 grapefruits per day. My parents have a grapefruit tree, but it's still a really young tree, so the fruit isn't as good as the grapefruit from the store, and....well, that's pretty much it. Does Grape Nuts count as healthy?

    Cheerios for my cholesterol. Whole wheat pasta with extra lean turkey meat. I love some salmon and steamed mixed veggies.

    Baby spinach salads w/ avocado, tomatoes, garbanzo beans & homemade olive oil-based dressing;
    Zucchini, squash, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms & sweet potatoes for veggies;
    Salmon & venison for meat;
    Mango, cantaloupe, cherrries, berries for fruit (never liked apples or bananas, it's a shame);
    Whole wheat pasta;
    Wild rice;
    Various whole wheat breads from CM;
    For a snack, Whole Foods Baked Woven Wheat crackers, just like Triscuits but made with only whole wheat & salt, and Droubi's whole wheat pita & hummus;
    Steamed artichokes make a good snack too;
    Kashii Crunch cereal;
    Raw milk when I can get it.

    I have never eaten babbaganoush.

    Is it store bought, or do you make your own?

    I like to make my own when I can, but Sabra makes a store bought brand that is quite good. I get it at the Randalls in my neighborhood, and also at Beldens on S. Braeswood @ Chimney Rock. I'm sure you can get it at Droubis and other Middle Eastern grocery stores.

    If Jimmy John's vegetarian sandwich counts, that's about it. The only thing I'll touch that has the name vegetarian in it.

    I work at Jason's Deli, and my favorite meal to get there is turkey breast on whole grain branola with tomatoes, sprouts, fat free swiss, basil pesto and fat free mayo. Fruit on the side. Sooooo good. And very filling too.

    I usually have to have my veggies either on a salad or a sandwich. I HATE steamed vegetables. The only time I've ever had vegetables as a side dish and liked them was at The Aquarium restaurant, and I bet it was basted with butter and spices and a bunch of unhealthy stuff...

    Outstanding swilkins! Thats great results you got there in a short time frame.

    I remember you posting about quitting alcohol a while back and was wondering how that was going.

    I usually live the healthy lifestyle myself. Its been almost 1.5 years where I've been on a strict diet. No meat, no refined sugar, very little dairy, no alcohol or tobacco either.

    For healthy foods: In the Meditteranean category falafels, hummus, and cous cous. These are great foods because you can prepare them at home in under 10 minutes time. They sell ready made mixes at most grocery stores these days.

    Natural peanut butter is a great snack as well. The kind of pb you make from a machine is really good stuff.

    I eat about 6 oranges a day, along with 4 servings of vegetables. Also a gallon of water a day minimum.

    i just cut down the "bad" stuff to twice a week at most. The bad stuff being the stuff I have problems controlling--red meat, candy, and fried food.

    Finally had a week where I didn't crave any of it. So it eventually worked..

    I still don't eat super healthy. But I eat only wheat bread at home (no high fructose corn syrup..which is actually hard to find)...buy the lean cold cuts for sandwiches.. oh and I haven't drank soda in years.

    Beer is a downfall.

    Excellent post swilkins!!! I was about to start something similar on account of all the fat arses praising the arty clogging foods.

    I believe my favorite healthy food that's not a vegetable or fruit is Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter. Great source of protien, essential fatty oils, and has the right amount of calories for gaining muscle.

    As for my faovorite vegtable/fruit I must say I love spinach, avacados, bananas, and strawberries.

    Congrats on the weight loss. There is no greater motivator of excersise than pissing of an ex.

    Heres' to single digit body fat percentage!!!!! Cheers!!!

    I got this recipe last weekend, and it is awesome!

    Stuffed jalepenos.

    15 jalepenos
    8 oz. cream cheese
    30 slices bacon
    1 tbs. creole/cajun seasoning
    2 tsp. garlic powder

    Mix the garlic and cajun into the cream cheese.
    Cut each jalepeno in half and deseed.
    Put cheese mixture into each jalepeno half.
    wrap each jalepeno half with a slice of bacon. Seal with toothpicks.
    Grill until bacon is cooked.

    Healthy and appetizing!

    Ever since Sunday, I've been dreaming about JCI. The ones I had Sunday were the best I've had in years. Which one do you go to?
