I was cooking spaghetti last night and it got me to thinking about comfort foods and how much I love the stuff. I know pasta has a lot of carbs, and I shouldnt be eating carbs late at night because it will make me a fat ass I just wish I was ambitious enough to make the meatballs to go with it.... damn that would be good.

    :)

Spaghetti's a good one for me too. Unless someone really can't cook, it's hard to make a batch of it that won't put a smile on my face. Makes for great left overs too.

I have also been known to drop in for a pint of World Class Chocolate ice cream at Baskin Robbins. It can make a bad day ten times better. Of course, horrible in terms of nutritional value.

That's a big one for me too.

Lasagna - My mom makes it with cottage cheese and my wife makes it with Ricotta. Very different tastes but both are tops in my book.

Mom's chicken fried steak, mashed taters, baked beans, sweet corn, peas, rolls, and her homemade cream gravy. Yes, she makes it all, and frequently more veggies than that. If we still lived in Houston, I'd weigh 200 lbs, instead of being skinny. I'm drooling just typing this! And don't get me started on her desserts, lol. She makes loads of other wonderful things to eat, but growing up, this was my favorite, and still is. When we come to visit, my kids ask for it. (I have them programmed) She's going to be 83 in July, and still going strong, thank goodness! And I've been collecting her recipes, which she got from my grandmothers. Can't touch the artist, though.

I may have to eat at Threadgill's today. Not nearly as good, but not bad at all.

It's quite close to Hungarian Goulash, except it has a few extra things in it that make it more pasta like than soup like. It's still got the juice etc, but isn't quite as liquidy.

It's one of my favorite things to make.
