Simple enough. Being that I turn 21 in about 2 weeks I am going to start buying a bunch of different kinds of beer to try out. My friend and I have been sampling a different 6 or 12 pack every couple of weekends for the past five months. So, I want to know what some of your favorite beers are?
Really high alcohol content on that one. It's only in season in October (or the Fall) if I'm not mistaken. Mine is Paulaner Hefeweizen. But I drink mostly Miller Lite.
You should go to the Gingerman in the Village. They have one of the widest selections of beers in Houston. They also have a large variety on tap. My favorite beers in no particular order are: Duvel, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Samual Adams, and Bass.
Year round beer as far as I know (I've never been unable to find it) Paulaner Hef is nice.. in fact, I just forgot to mention it.. the only better Hefeweizen i've ever had is from the Breckenridge Brewery in Colorado..
Chimay Red and Blue La Fin Du Monde Samuel Smith: Taddy Porter Samuel Smith: Imerial Stout Sierra Nevada: Stout
It all depends on what you like. At the moment im addicted to hoppy IPA's so my favorite right now is Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. At 9% abv it packs the punch of about 3 budweisers and gives you a warm and relaxed feeling. St.Arnold makes some descent starting brews but as you progress you will find there offerings to be not very expressive and slightly bland. If you can find there Kristall Weisen it's a nice beer to start with.
lots of love for the lawnmower! it's at the top of my list as well. good call on the dogfish head 90 minute. strong stuff, but pretty damn good. firemans 4 by real ale is real good too. others: scrimshaw moosehead maredsuos pacifico sierra nevada pale ale anchor steam liberty ale
Any of the German beers ending in -ator (Salvator, Optimator, etc) are "Starkbiers", meaning "strong beers" and have higher alcohol content. I was wrong on them being in season in the Fall. It's actually during Lent, which is in the Spring, but I guess that's just tradition and the breweries will make it year-round to make a buck it looks like...
Don't buy that cheap **** like Natural Light, Busch, etc. We call that stuff gut rot. Budweiser or Miller Lite is fine to me.
I really liked Shiner Bock about 5 years ago. I don't know if my taste buds changed or if their formula changed, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore. I've heard the same complaint from a few other people. Anything to this?
I haven't really noticed a change in Shiner, but one's things for sure with Shiner.... it has to be very cold..... warm Shiner tastes like crap. A tip for you young guys between 18-21..... sure you can buy the really cheap beer while in college like The Beast (Old Milwaukee's Best) or Pearl.... but at least get some Coors Light or Miller Lite. Something that's not a complete waste. And some of you may agree with this-- avoid Budweiser. Green, Bud sh!#s are pretty bad.
