Remember CD saying something about Yao developing a major improvement in his game that will be noticeable this next season? What do you think it is? My guess is he has expanded on his hook shot and will now break out the 2 step 1 dribble hook shot that Kareem used to use or the turnaround hook that Kareem used so effectively from the side of the bucket. Any other guesses?
Jopatmc has fallen in love with Yao. He can't stop talking about him LOL I don't think Yao needs any specific moves. He's got plenty. His offensive game is very polished. What he needs is a little more strength, more stamina and find a way to get more minutes.
and afterwards, he should hold up a peace sign with his right hand and put three fingers down with his left hand. Yao Ming baby!
I'm a Rocket fan baby. Yao-yes. TMac-yes. Swift-Yes. If Yao increases his stamina and strength, and if TMac drives the paint more often and doesn't settle for the long jumpers quite so much and if Swift is a force on defense and an aggressive rebounder, defender, and garbage man, and if our guards can stay healthy or we can make a trade for one more upgrade at guard, then we could go all the way.
When did he say this? ... And on a related note, when did CD say that we were going to pull off another big move/trade? I really don't remember either of these things being said.
I think it was when he was being interviewed either at the Swift press conference or following the press conference during a radio interview. It's been a couple months back.
He was talking about the progress that Yao has made with his upper body strength. Rich Bucher even mentioned that there was significant changes with Yao's muscles.
I don't think it was any move in particular that Yao is working on. CD said something along the lines of, "He's working on some things that he's never worked on before." So maybe something like positioning, or ways to deal with fronting defenses. I also remember the poster yaomania saying, a few months ago, that he peeked onto the court and saw Yao working on some pick 'n pop drills. So maybe we'll see a little more of that with T-mac. I remember numerous times during the season when Tracy got Padge a wide open 3 off the p/p. I'd imagine that Yao could get an open 18 footer any time he wants with this play. Could be an effective way to get Yao easy looks, and increase his shots per game.
I capped the CD interview. It's in this post. Ask somebody to re-up it (I can't right now - it's on my keychain drive and I'm not gonna go looking for it). CD did NOT say that Yao was working on a new move.
A transition from the Dikembe finger-wag to the upside down 3-fingered hand signal. It's trickier than it looks.
