It's the first time that i've seen Adelman do this. Last night against Toronto and 2 nights ago against Minnesota he just doesn't play 4 or our guys. And key guys as it is!!! Cook, Barry, Hayes & Mutombo have not seen a single minute of game time for the last 2 games. Leaving us with an 8 man rotation. What is Adelman trying to do? Because one of these 8 guys are going to get injured if he continues to use them like this!! Is he trying to prove a point? To the Rox? Anyways, he could atleast play Barry and Hayes!
I think Adelman is trying to build chemistry with a solid 7-8 man rotation. Hayes and Barry are probably insurance only. Wafer does just about everything Barry can do and Hayes seems to only be effective situationally, like against Aldridge. I dont see them getting much playing time in the playoffs.
When we talking about utah's game, Adelman is doing preparation of playoff's game... I think he is going to setup a 8 man rotation for playoff. Barry, Hayes & Mutombo will only play in some situation.
How in god's name was Chuck Hayes our starter for the entire 06-07 season??I love the dude, but you can see that RA requires players in his rotation to be skilled at scoring the ball
For next game~~~ Hayes and Barry . They are trusted guys! We against Utah ,so we need all of the guys!!
Let's not kid ourselves here. Not every player on the roster should be played. Cook - He's not really very good... he's just here to make the money work out when trading Rafer. No reason to play him over Landry/Scola or even Chuck. Dikembe - He's there for very, very specific situations, none of which have come up. Chuck - Doesn't he have some sort of ailment that has been affecting his play recently? Barry - He's been turning over the ball a lot lately, but I still think his shooting would be a good match with Lowry. I wouldn't mind seeing him come in with Wafer/Lowry more often and shoot the ball, not try to run the show. And the new guy, White - They want to see him in practice, not in game. He'll only get trash minutes, at best.
One thing Wafer cannot do is pass like Barry. Wafer's only focus is scoring. He even has problems passing into Yao. It is a good idea to get some chemistry between the 8 man rotation. Hard to tell if it is to soon because of the teams injury problems.
Its simple. Rick is making sure we win these games and the two guys who would likely get minutes are as professional as they come and won't b**** about it and will give 100% when Rick calls on them.
barry's passing is overrated. he's a great passer but he also attempts alot of passes that he shouldn't, resulting in unnecessary turnovers. still, he will probably play more in the playoffs than he is right now due to his experience.
I disagree. Barry's shot has been flat all year. He's not the scorer he used to be. I can't remember the last time that guy got hot. He looks better as taking it to the basket than he does from the three point line. There's a good chance the guy is just about done.
The playoffs demand a strict 8-man rotation. Historically, teams that come in using 10-man rotations (the running Memphis Grizzlies of the past) get creamed. With the ridiculousness of this season, Adelman has to establish this team and get his rotation to gel within 6 weeks. He's doing a very smart thing by going to a strict, regular rotation now. I think the only shift that should happen is increased minutes for Lowry as he establishes a better comfort level with the starters. Evan
Adelman is known for his preference for a short rotation, usually no more than 8 players. I think he is beginning to see chemistry developing for the first time this season. He is going to take this rotation to the playoffs. Hayes and Mutombo will play spot minutes for defensive situations. Barry is struggling. He may see some increased PT in the playoffs if the young backcourt guys' (Wafer, Brooks, Lowry) inexperience is hurting the team. I don't know. I am still worried about Brooks being our starting PG in the playoffs. He is so inconsistent. Cook will play only in garbage time. Now let's hope that injury won't hit us again so this rotation will be intact comes playoffs time.
well, we are getting close to the playoff time and we are making a run to the end for the best seeding. Therefore, the coach and the players need to know and get familiar with who they are playing with plus the rotation. Chuck is injured now, but his role would be solely for the defense. situational role and don't really need much PT. Cook - hope we won't see him, as we know what he is for - an insurance white - samething, but more for practice usage. Deke - our bench coach and perhaps for Yao backup when we face other tall true centers. Barry - is a pro, he doesn't need alot of PT to get understanding of our play. we will need him in the Playoffs. when Wafer, AB, Lowry (less experienced) getting the j*zz and nervous in those atmosphere.
that 8 man rotation is pretty solid. Where multiple guys can play multiple spots. Its always better to have a secure 8 man rotation, then have a player or 2 in the game, when the situation arise. Example, Hayes, when the opposite PFs is killing us. Mutumbo, yao in foul trouble, and size is needed. Barry, when a little experience and 3p shooting is needed.
