Arkansas Mother Gives Birth to 16th Child By MELISSA NELSON, Associated Press Writer
    12 minutes ago

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Michelle Duggar just delivered her 16th child, and she's already thinking about doing it again.

Johannah Faith Duggar was born at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and weighed 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces.

The baby's father, Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative, said Wednesday that mother and child were doing well.

He said Johannah's birth was especially exciting because it was the first time in eight years the family has had a girl.

Jim Bob Duggar, 40, said he and Michelle, 39, want more children.

"We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord. I have asked Michelle if she wants more and she said yes, if the Lord wants to give us some she will accept them," he said.

The Discovery Health Channel filmed Johannah's birth and plans to air a show about the family of 18 next May.

The Learning Channel is doing another show about the family's construction project, a 7,000-square foot house that should be finished before Christmas. The home, which the family has been building for two years, will have nine bathrooms, dormitory-style bedrooms for the girls and boys, a commercial kitchen, four washing machines and four dryers.

Jim Bob Duggar, who sells real estate, previously lost his bid for the U.S. Senate. He said he expects to run for the state Senate next year but isn't ready to make a formal announcement.

Michelle Duggar had her first child at age 21, four years after the couple married.

Their children include two sets of twins, and each child has a name beginning with the letter "J": Joshua, 17; John David, 15; Janna, 15; Jill, 14; Jessa, 12; Jinger, 11; Joseph, 10; Josiah, 9; Joy-Anna, 8; Jeremiah, 6; Jedidiah, 6; Jason, 5; James, 4; Justin, 2; and Jackson Levi, 1.

I remember a woman in the Guiness Book of World Records who had 60+ kids. She was somewhere in South America I think.

    * EDIT * : Oh God, and the guy's name is Jim Bob.

People used to have more kids to populate the earth, work the farm, and because half died growing up.

    Not needed anymore.

I am having enough trouble making dinner for two, how much time do you need to make dinner for 18? That is almost two squads!

That's when you enlist the members of the squads to help make dinner, mow the lawn, wash the car, etc. Don't you understand how this works? It's cheap slave labor!! :D

    Another famous Jim Bob:

University of Tennessee QB Jim Bob Cooter

    that's right...Cooter

    A name to remember
    http://www.volunteertv.com/Global/story.asp?S=3947736&nav=menu185_4

UT Campus, Knoxville (WVLT) - The birth certificate says James Robert, but on this Tennessee football team, you'll find no one answering to that.

    “I've always been Jim Bob.”

He's Tennessee quarterback Jim Bob Cooter.

“I thought in high school I should be Jim or Bob, but that doesn't work for me, so I'm completely happy with Jim Bob.”

And what better place for Jim Bob to call home, then here in Rocky Top Jim Bob: This name fits in with this campus and this team better than it could anywhere else.

But anywhere else is a place Jim Bob wouldn't want to be.

“When I graduated in 12th grade, we wrote a letter in 9th grade, saying when you read this, hopefully you've just signed a letter of intent to UT. I forgot about that, then when I read that, it was interesting.”

No scholarship for Jim Bob. He's a walk-on here in at UT.

And he'll admit, it's tough sometimes knowing in all likelihood he won't see any action, but if the situation arises, he says, you can call on Cooter.

“If we had a couple of injuries I think I could do it. I've never been afraid of pressure. I think I could do it. It might be less of the system, but I think I could do it. They might have to lessen the offense, but I think I could handle it.”

But until they do, Jim Bob will continue to call in the plays, waiting for the time the fans chant "Put in Cooter".

    Hoping the coaches listen.

    LOL...

I was reading about this on another board. Their family web site and FAQ are at www.jimbob.info . I know they mean well and, like many large families, they're very organized. On the other hand, not a lot of freedom for kids growing up this way. Especially the two oldest daughters who are responsible for all the cooking.
