I personally am indifferent, don't think there is a better coach on the table out there that will offset the potential chemistry issues and the whole relearning of a new offense/defense, but just putting out a feeler.

First round exit would be only way McHale gets fired imo.

Anything less than pictures of McHale pulling a Jerry Sandusky will not suffice.

3-year contract extension. We're stuck like Chuck.

Not making the Playoffs for sure. Unfortunately, with the talent on this team he will likely sneak in to at least the 7th/8th spots which will allow him to keep his job.

Won't matter, if they bring in another puppet or Morey tells the coach they have to run this or run that.

Sure, McHale stinks but he's just running the Morey offense.

3s - Lets jack a bunch of threes but we have no real good shooters. Yeah, yeah, I suppose McHale could insert the one potential shooter in Marcus Thornton but he's just one guy.

Frees - emphasis on getting to the FT line but aren't good there either. 71%(23rd) in a 2 game sample size. 72% last year(27th)

Layups: Just quote McHale from last night:

Can we get a shooting coach like Golden State has?

2-3 more 20 point losses to go down 0-5 to start the season and Mchale will get fired.
But as J.R said doesn't matter so much because the real boss who makes the strategy and the plan at least on the offence is Morrey and there aren't that many great coaches that would accept such a level of intervention. Thibs wouldn't accept it for sure.

    Knee Jerk thread

Rockets havent really played terrible just missing easy lay ups and dunks, not hitting open looks.

Harden cant shoot 4/21 and 6/18 if they want a chance.

I don't know why people think Thornton is a much of a shooter. He's a career 36% three point shooter. About the same as Beverley, and worse than Harden, Lawson, and Terry. I guess he's known as a shooter because that's the only thing that he does that's close to average for a guard.

Knocked out the first or second round can do it but first you have to make his skin look the same color as Mark Jackson or Alvin Gentry lol.

I am sure if McHale was picked up for driving under the influence he'd be fired.

I wish a 1-6 or 0-7 start were enough, but only the Lakers seem to have that quick of a trigger finger(Del Harris and Mike Brown). Sadly it'll probably take something truly awful like missing the playoffs or limping in as the 7th or 8th seed and losing in 4 or 5 games to put him on the hot seat.

The only other possibility that could lead to Mchale being gone sooner(aside from an unimaginable 3-15 type of start) would be Harden demanding his firing. It's a players' league and there is no shortage of NBA stars who've gotten their coaches canned.

I am not so familiar with the owner, but do people here actually think that if we lost again in the next game by 20 points and then lose to Orlando and after by 20 points to OKC after that McHale won't get fired?

I have to agree with your general thought, and add that even "good" shooters like Ariza, Prigioni, Lawson, and probably Thornton seem to struggle with consistency in our offense.

There are no screens, cutters, movement... no in-and-out post game to work from. Teams are learning to pack the paint and allow us to beat ourselves with our own strategy (three point bonanza). I don't think we have anything resembling "spacing" in our offense. We could throw Thornton, Reddick, or Stephen Curry out there and have the same problem.
