well, i've kind of fumbled around with my understanding of this and probably will continue doing so. at one point in my life i thought it was all about getting ahead in life no matter the cost - but i now find that belief to be pretty self centered. personally, i now believe that the purpose of life is to improve as many lives as one can while sustaining a healthy family life (if one has a family) and a devotion to God. --- i added in the family part because sometimes people try and "please" as many people as possible while jeopardizing their relationship with their spouse or whatever. a marriage relationship should be treated with respect and integrity, as should all relationships.
You remember how the A-Team used to always break Howlin' Mad Murdock out of the insane asylum in every episode so he could fly helicopters on their secret missions? It's sorta like that.
Life is not about sex. It's about a journey and passion and spirit. It's not about f***ing and balls and pu**y. It's about love. It's about people. It's about connections. It's not about tossing salad. It's not about cocks and ass and t***. And butthole pleasures...... I love that movie!
Owning a Mansion, a fleet of nice cars, a trophy wife, and courtside season tickets to the Rockets games.
It's certainly not about hedonistic pleasure and nothing else, although that's part of it along with pain, anger, and at times even despaire. I think living right and attempting to make a positive impact while you're still here roaming the earth, no matter how small a contribution it might seem. It might seem weird to some of you, but I consciously keep track of things I have done on any given day that might have made someone's life better no matter how 'small' it might be. For some of us, we get pleasure out of doing our jobs because it helps different people with different things. So I think it's doing good with your own life and doing good unto others as much as you can...it's about the little things that make a bigger impact than we might realize. That's just my take...
There's a guy named Alan Watts, who did some philosophy specials on PBS a long while back, who did a series on Taoism. One of the things that stood out, as I remember it, is our animal functions have some meaning, but there is also non-purposeful play, where we do some things that are said to be like the angels spend their time, celebrating God. That's music at a high level - a sort of play, very structured, beautiful and striking a sort of universal chord, where the mortal meets divinity. Art, music, dance - these are the sort of expressions of a sort of joy that tell of a nature beyond our survival and replication directives from dead mortal masters. I do thinks there's more there, and we sense it in each other, like a sort of vibration, in the universal music. It might sound like noize at first, but you pick it up as you live and become aware, or find enlightenment, in little things, and transparent moments.
Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations. And, finally, here are some completely gratuitous pictures of penises to annoy the censors and to hopefully spark some sort of controversy, which, it seems, is the only way, these days, to get the jaded, video-sated public off their ****ing arses and back in the sodding cinema. Family entertainment? Bollocks. What they want is filth: people doing things to each other with chainsaws during tupperware parties, babysitters being stabbed with knitting needles by gay presidential candidates, vigilante groups strangling chickens, armed bands of theatre critics exterminating mutant goats. Where's the fun in pictures? Oh, well, there we are. Here's the theme music. Goodnight
