why do they never have Rockets coverage. I have seen Bill and Calvin only one time this entire season. It is intresting to hear the other teams take on the Rockets, but this has gotten ridiculous. Last year was almost entirely Rocket broadcasts. Is this some sort of sick payback by league pass? Damn!
This has been brought up before in other threads. It appears it has something to do with the fact that the Rockets local games are on UPN and not Fox. League Pass seems to have some corporate connection/responsibility to Fox. This may in part be due to the new ABC/ESPN contract as oppossed to the old contract with NBC/TNT.
You would think that the NBA marketing gurus would be smart enough to have Bill & Calivn on League Pass every once in a while. The Rockets probably have more fans than Miami, Memphis, Cleveland, Denver, Atlanta, and the Clippers combined, but yet we still get the other team's announcers when the Rockets play these teams. It takes a lot of fun out of watching the Rockets games when you can't hear Calivn go crazy when the Rockets win a big game. And some of these announcers are full of crap, in particular the Mavs and Jazz announcers.
I hear you... I would love to hear Bill and Cal instead of the other stiffs I'm hearing... I'm just glad to be able to see a Rockets game out here in the middle of nowhere... I gotta say though, the announcers are givin' their props to Franchise and Yao, and do admit to the CAT not being quite right...
Just to re-iterate... The NBA has an agreement that Fox Sports gets first dibs on League Pass broadcasts. Since we have no contract with Fox Sports, if the other team is using a Fox feed, they automatically get chosen. Second, because channel 51 (not UPN as someone above stated) is not accepted on DirecTV, Leauge Pass is not able to broadcast any games with their signal. In order for 51 to be broadcast over League Pass, both major satellite providers (DirecTV and Dish Network) would have to accpet their signals. Since one does not, they are shut out. Note: there isn't anything the Rockets or the NBA can do about the problem this season. It is conceivable, assuming the Rockets remain on 51 and cannot resolve their issues with FSSW, that the issue could be resolved over the summer with DirecTV accepting 51 onto its lineup of channels. However, if the FSSW issue is not resolved, any team that has Fox as its broadcast network for a game against the Rockets will automatically be given the nod for League Pass. To get this resolved, you just have to hope that DirecTV accepts 51 and that the Rockets work out their differences with FSSW in the offseason.
