I didn't realize it until I watched the box score again... the last 4 games are won by 2 pts, 4 pts, 4 pts, and 3 pts... this is gotta be some kind of record. I never remember a serie that is so closely contested. I don't open threads much, but I feel justified to yell out now: This is a serie so close that can be determined by a butterfly flipping his wings in brazil. To win the next two games, I BELIEVE!!
I cant recall the scores, but those Sonics-Rockets matchups of the early 90s were awesome (even though we lost). The year before we won the title we lost on a Hakeem 3 to tie in game 7.
does anyone know of a series where a team won in 7 games winning every other game? i think that would be kind of interesting.
One of my favorite playoff series was the first first round matchup between the Kings & Jazz where the Jazz ended up winning in OT of game 5 (when there were only 5 games in the first round). Vlade Divac just went off that series. They were doing isos for Vlade down the stretch in every game.
Well, off the top of my head. Boston vs. Milwaukee in the 1987 Eastern Conference Semis: Seven game series decided by a combined 42 points. Rockets vs. Knicks in the 1994 NBA Finals: Seven game series also decided by 42 points. I give the Rockets/Knicks series the slight edge over the Celtics/Bucks series because the '94 Finals didn't have any games decided by double digits while the other series had two games decided by double digits. If the Mavs finish off the Rockets in six, then this is all a moot point since (at least in my opinion) a series has to go seven games to be considered among the closest ever. Barring a blowout, the Mavs/Rockets series has a chance...
1980 - Astros vs. Phillies Game 1 - 2 run win for Phillies The next 4 (best of 5 series) games went into extra innings. Hard to get any closer than that.
That might win if this weren't "NBA dish" Besides, the 2003 ALCS had two 1-run games, a 2-run game, and an 11 inning game with a walk-off homer in game 7, so
That 92-93 Seattle-Houston series was unique in that it was basically 6 BLOWOUTS, and one final OT game. So, while the overall point differential may have been close, there was really only ONE good game, where the final outcome was actually in doubt in the 4th quarter.
i didn't realize he meant actual score until after i had posted (is that a word?). i was under the impression he meant just close as in could have gone either way.
Last year's Timberwolves-Kings series was VERY close. It went to the edge, if Webber made a 3 pointer at the buzzer in game 7 they would've won.
