I know some of my opinions are not popular, and I get to hammering them over and over....so I took a step back this afternoon and took some time to think about what I like about the Rockets this year. Please post what you like and let's keep this thread of the positive nature. 1. Yao Ming - I love everything about the big guy, his work ethic, his drive, his humor, and especially his will to improve. I am very HAPPY we have Yao Ming on the Houston Rockets 2. Shane Battier - I have wanted him since the year he was drafted, I think he is a perfect complimentary piece to Yao and Tmac. He hustles on both ends and plays very smart basketball, a JOY to watch. 3. Juwan's professionalism and renasiance - I have been as critical of J-Ho as the next guy, but I love the way he has been playing since he got back in the rotation, we are lucky to have him on the roster. Sure he has flaws, but he plays a good solid game. 4. Tracy McGrady's all around game - I love how well he passes the ball and how unselfish he is playing this year. I see a true joy in his face when he sets his teamates up for big shots - particularly Battier. Tmac may not be as explosive as he once was, but man he is still a superstar player. 5. The Rocket's team defense - I love the intensity this team displays on defense, and you have to give JVG credit for getting them to play that hard on the most unglamorous portion of the game. We have the best defense in the league and that is something to be proud and HAPPY about. 6. Luther Heads 3 point shot - I love Luther shooting the 3 pointer and when it goes up, I feel there is a great chance it is going in....a thing of beauty and something to be happy about. 7. Team's overall chemistry - You can see that these guys like to play together, they enjoy each others company and you can see the comraderie on the bench - a wonderful thing to see. 8. Promising young players on the bench - Synder, Novak, JL3, V-Span all players that may one day contribute majorly to the Rocket's teams...the deepest team we have seen in a long time. 9. 9 games over .500 and in 6th playoff position - Got to love being in position to make the playoffs, and we should be a load once we get there. 10. Deke - What got into him...he looks great.....and more importantly a great human being. Those are just a few of the things I am happy about with this year's team. Sometimes I get caught up in the flaws, and forget to appreciate the good. Please keep this thread positive, and tell everyone what you LIKE about the Rockets this year ! DD
positive? hmmmm there is alot! but my most favorite of all- JVG's contract is expiring after this season!!!
Okay I'll bite - 1) Rockets Fans. We might be reactionary, overly-repetitive, foolish, stupid, etc, but when you take a step back, posters like Dadakota make you wonder if there are more passionate NBA fans out there. We live with every win and die with every loss, and yes fans of other message boards out there do similar things, but there isn't a single message board filled with the sheer passion of Clutchfans. This in itself is what I think speaks loudest as a testament to the true quality of this site. 2) Dikembe Mutombo for being both a great basketball player and human being.
1) Rafer Alston - A point guard that can bring the ball up the court 2) not having Mike James running the point 3) Battier - Worked out much better than we hoped 4) TMac - he can still take over games like none other 5) ming - yao ming, yao ming yao ming, YAO ming...

The truth can sometimes be an opinion.......and can also be an unpopular one as I well know ! I am just asking people what they LIKE and are happy about with this year's team. DD
That's harsh. The difference between Mike James and Rafer Alston is not big enough to merit that kind of response. Hell, I don't think any opinion is bad enough to merit that kind of response. Take it easy.
I like that any one of Bonzi, Snyder, V-Span, Lucas or Novak may bring a new and consistent weapon to this team over the second half of the season.
my list of positives begins with: I love JVG. I love JVG so much that I'll say this; I don't think any of those things on your list of positives happens to the level that they have without JVG being the coach of this team. and yes, that is a back handed slap! that's about all you posting schtick is worth to me. don't try to argue. I won't.
Agreed, JVG has done wonders for this team. JVG also cracked a smile last night.. there is not a coach in the league I'd take over JVG, so to know we have the best coach is an awesome feeling.. To know we have the best big man is an awesome feeling I like our colors though I'd love to see a black/red uni
well, I actually like happy fans like krosfyah and all the Red Rowdies more than JVG. and I like fans like you, too. As long as you feel the pain that I do when we lose, and feel the joy that I do when we win. all is good.
Rockets were awful at home last year. Now they rock in the Toyota Center. Rockets started the season with tons of turnovers and were weak mentally, giving away leads late in the game. They have cut down the turnovers and are now very competitive for 48 minutes- even when they lose they are competitive. They are very rarely blown out and are closing out games. Juwon's jumper from the elbow/top of key is money in the frikkin bank. Cha-ching. Tmac didn't have any great games up until his back flare-up. Since then he has had several amazing games. This team competes hard and plays to win every game, no matter who is out.
I don't remember anyone mentioning Chuck Hayes. He played terrific prior to the injury and I hope his struggles since are just due to needing some more recuperation time. I know he has some more to learn and improvements to make esp. to his shot but he has a lot of Battier's energy qualities that help this team. Juwan coming back like gangbusters. He is just so much better than last year! Keep the arc in your shots Juwan! Clutch the Bear. We got to spend some time with him at the airport busstop in Miami and he is just a load of fun. Dropping the cake on the dude in the stands a couple of weeks ago was pretty awesome as well. And the dude can shoot backwards from half court and hit it now! The powerdancers help keep me young.
