I'll preface this by saying I'm sure this is absolutely nothing. But does anyone know what Tracy is doing over there? This started on Friday when a Charlotte-based flight attendant tweeted that Tracy was on his flight from Chicago to Charlotte, and that Tracy said Charlotte was his "last stop." http://twitter.com/bobbymarr Now, it's Monday, and we have this from Tracy (his updates are protected, so unless he accepts you you won't be able to see it): http://twitter.com/McGradyTracy I'm sure it's coincidental, and maybe he has family or a basketball camp or something like that that I'm not aware of. But Charlotte isn't exactly a spot you go on vacation for a few days. Moreover, they're a team perpetually in search of cap room, as well as a name that can bring attendance to the arena. They also have some very intriguing assets (Wallace, Okafor, lottery pick, Augustin, etc.) and you'd have to assume that no one is untouchable. As I said, it's probably nothing, but with the lack of info these days it's fun to try and play detective.
Here's a question...does McGrady have one of those no trade clauses in his contract that some players have been exercising the last couple of years? I only ask b/c let's say he's cool with moving locales, I would assume at this stage in his career, he'd like to go to a another contender as well as make money.
Tmac doesn't have a no trade clause. You have to stay with the same team for more than 7 years to be able to add that in new contract, I guess. Kobe had one, and that's about it.
Ah ok. What about dude in Dallas that pulled that though? George? He wasn't with Dallas that long coming from LA was he?
It would be nice to get Okafur, Houston's own BHS high school star, and Hakeem the Dream fan, on our team.
He went to high school somewhere in North Carolina. But who knows I saw Andray Blatche here in SC, so NBA players pretty much go anywhere, it doesn't have to be popular.
Kobe is the only player in the league with a no trade clause in his contract. The Mavs players had the right to turn a trade because if he were traded he'd lose bird rights. If you remember when the Rockets tried to sign Mike James as a free agent a few seasons ago. CD simply said they don't do trade kickers or no trade clauses.
More then likely it is a personal matter. Charlotte actually has been on something of a rise this past season. They haven't nearly been that terrible as previous seasons and T-Mac going there wouldn't make sense if he was only being brought in to cut for salary cap purposes.
Lets if Bobcats are just looking to dump salary like the big contracts of Gerald Wallace and Diaw and want to get under the cap next year so Jordan can work some free agency magic. Would you take Wallace (4 year - 40 mil), Diaw (3 years 27 mil) plus fillers?
I think his wife went to college in North Carolina. One way or another his wife has ties there. I wouldn't say he'd be there as a precursor for any kind of trade, since he's gonna be garbage until late next season anyway.
