Wnes, a good observation. Just another world tour by the emperor's minions atempting to instruct the locals.
That's interesting how the headlines of the same story are presented in multiple ways. Headlines: China - No problem Australia - Problem in ASIA India - India is getting stronger US - China is become a bigger problem
Don't worry, America never takes on a worthy opponent, only when it has to (WWII for example). We are rational people, we only bully the weak.
http://www.boston.com/news/world/ar...emarks_rumsfeld_continues_to_push_for_change/ He (Rumsfeld) criticized China for increasing military spending despite the absence of a threat from another country and said the Asian power risks diminishing its global influence unless it opens up its political system. ...A report last month by a US think tank put China's military spending between $69 billion and $78 billion a year, estimated in 2001 US dollars. That ranges between 2.3 percent and 2.8 percent of China's gross domestic product, according to the RAND Corp. That compares with the $430 billion spent by the United States on defense in 2004 -- 3.9 percent of the country's GDP. Can we put this in the hypocrite or glass house category?
I guess it is how dare China would want to one day become a military super power, didn't they know US is the only one allow to dominate the world?
Well, aren't you going to give credits to Rumsfeld and Pentagon for proposing recently to close many military bases in US?
Where is SamFisher and his usual PRC bashing post? Come on lets hear it, you agree with Rummy on the China subject.
The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle. The Project for the New American Century intends, through issue briefs, research papers, advocacy journalism, conferences, and seminars, to explain what American world leadership entails. It will also strive to rally support for a vigorous and principled policy of American international involvement and to stimulate useful public debate on foreign and defense policy and America's role in the world. William Kristol, Chairman LOL......and there are actually suckers out there that buy into this crap.
This is the asian century, not just the Chinese century. But it won't be for another 20 years until Asia dominates the world. The U.S. won't fade away, we just won't have a preponderance of power relative to the rest of the world anymore. And the Asian economies will sooner or later overtake America's. I think we are coming to the end of 4 centuries or so of Western domination in the world, it looks like it will be time for the East to take over.
