I'm hearing all this talk about Mar Jackson being the answer to our fronline. The guy sucks. He hasn't showed me much of anything and I doubt if he will improve much more than his shortened rookie season. We should build this team with thoughts on dethroning the Lakers and neutralizing Shaq. With that said, I would much rather have LaFrentz because he can bring Shaq out to the perimeter and hit the 15 to 20 footer. He also is a great shot blocker who hustles. This is the type of guy that Rudy would love to have at center.

You only have one ball on the floor. If the Rockets re-sign Taylor, that is 4 scorers all wanting the ball. Jackson is a good solid role player who can bang in the post, rebound and has a soft touch when he does get the ball.

Jackson is not a great center, but look around the league there are only a couple great centers left anywhere near their prime.

Jackson is a nice player who is effective. I would love to get him.

What makes people think that Denver will give up LaFrentz? I would think he'll stay in Denver, and eventually will get big coin. Marc Jackson is a 6-10, 270lbs big body, he is only 26 years old, he was a runner-up for ROY and put up impressive numbers. (13.2 ppg 7.5 rpg in 29 minutes of action). All we need is a solid rebounder, decent low post scoring, and a guy to eat up minutes and fill the lane and Marc Jackson could be the answer. We don't need a dominant, All-Star caliber center, even though that would be nice, we just need a quality big man.

That's mainly what I was concerened about, ability to hit the open jumper. I think with the zone intact next season, you pretty much need all the good shooters on the floor as you can. Besides, I don't think it would make much of a difference because you know Hakeem will cry about his role in the offense early in the season anyway (if he re-signs).

Just so you know, in addition to being able to bang down low and rebound, Jackson is an excellent shooter out to about the 20 foot range. He doesn't get as much credit as Lafrentz, but it's still a part of his game.

Wasn't Marc Jackson injured for part of last year? I think it was a groin injury or something like that. Do you think that this injury might follow him? The last thing that we need is Cato and Jackson swapping time one the IR.

But I do like Jackson's game. He is not a scary defensive presence like Mutumbo, but he can score and rebound and is not a horrible defender. Maybe platooning him with Cato might be the best option in the long run. They would definitely give two different looks for the team on offense and defense. And Rudy does value centers who can draw the defense (i.e. Shaq) out of the lane. Jackson would definitely do that better than Cato.

Man it's been a long time since I've posted. Got to admit CD and Rudy know how to reel fans back in!

I know nothing about Marc Jackson. I searched for about an hour to find info on this guy but didn't learn much. My main question is where did he come from? Did he play in the CBA or Europe? Was he ever drafted by an NBA team? Why did GS only sign him for one season? Is he a restricted FA? Any of this info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Marc Jackson is a restricted FA. He had a solid rookie year at Golden State. He average over 13 ppg and 7rpg while sharing time with Foyle and Dampier in GS. Lafrentz would be a better option but he is not a FA. The Rockets would have to trade more players, picks, and money for him. And right now the Rockets don't have that many players other teams would want in order to pull a trade like that.
