It's pretty clear that one of the things that needs to happen in order for us to become a legitimate title contender is for our PF prospects to make significant strides the next season.

    1) What specific things would you like each of the guys to improve on?
    2) What statlines would you like them to have next year?

I for one wonder how we are not legitimate title contenders - even if TJ / DMO do nothing to improve, we are legit title contenders.

dmo needs to work on his 3, midrange baseline J, and rebounding technique. not sure how much work he can put in while recovering from back surgery though.

tjones needs to work on the same from above, as well as go thru game tape from the GS series and figure out why the F he keeps disappearing. maybe he needs a sport psychologist or something

I hope both players improve their rebounding... so frustrating when they just stand and watch the ball bounce off the rim and into an opponents hands..

I would like to see T Jones improve on his defense and passing, if he could be sort of a Draymond Green light for that would be huge. The main thing for D-Mo is to just get healthy but if we could see him hit the 3 ball at slightly higher clip and learn to get better positioning on rebounds he could be a real beast.

D-Mo really excites me, I think he has what it takes to be an All Star level player, it'll be tough playing with the talent we currently have but he is so young and has already shown great promise.

I want both guys to play bigger and get tougher.

DMo gets exhausted playing 25 minutes per game. He needs to keep working on improving his conditioning and strength.

TJones seemed to have lost his explosiveness after he returned from his injuries last year. I want Jones to be more aggressive and play like a power forward. Jones isn't real tall, but he has the bulk to play inside. He needs to throw his weight around and do some damage.

Motiejunas can work in his mid range shooting (including FT) plus stamina and explosiveness.

I don't expect a change at the shooting mechanics in T-Jones, but it is needed if he wants to improve shooting. I think right now is priority for him to get in shape, get some basic post up game and a change of habits at the defensive rebounding. Change of mental habits and mechanics are extremely difficult to implement at 24, but he has the tools to develop a basic post up game.

Before i think improvement, i'd be happy if they can even get back to their form before injury. For Dmo that means have his postgame still be effective. For Jones that means making random plays like putbacks and blocks. Both need their confidence back.

Improvement-wise, they both need to work on FT's, boxing out/rebounding, and shooting. Jones may need to work on his layup drills.

People always talk about D-Mo and his need to improve his midrange shooting. Why? It's obvious we don't do that. And the 3 pointer provides spacing anyway.

I wish both could throw their body around more and battle down low with Dwight. Dwight shouldnt be the only one. Like a Gasol/Randolph or Deandre/Griffin.

I want T Jones to improve his defense and his 3 point shooting. If you look at his numbers during the regular season, he looked like exactly what we need. Then, it all went totally south in the playoffs again. Maybe just the injury, I hope?

DMo needs to work on his Trex hands, and TJones needs to work on his giraffe neck.

D-Mo really just needs to be healthy, and back to where he was during that stretch of the season when he was the 2nd best player on the team. If he can play like that for a full season, You'll take it.

Other than that, his main glaring weakness is rebounding. Playing next to Howard, its not as much of an issue, but seeing as though the Rockets really only 5 before Dwight is Capela, D-Mo is still going to be needed at the 5 quite a bit moving forward. That's something he's got to improve on.

Jones... the Clutchfans villain... needs to improve his team defense. Can't get caught flat footed anymore, and just needs to get a little tougher & more disciplined as a defender.

Last year when he came back from injury, he seemed to not be 100% and that lack of explosiveness really hurt his ability to finish around the rim like he did in year 2.

    ...

If either of these two guys can take another huge step forward this year that will be great, but at this point the Rockets just really need them to fine tune things, and get better at their weaknesses. Certainly not perfect players, but they complement each others skill sets, and give you a ton of versatility. Donatas getting back to health, and playing like the way he showed he's capable of will be the biggest question mark for these two guys.

They're already title contenders. But i would like to see both get stronger, have a better FG% all around and for Jones to be more confident in his abilities because to me it seems like D-Mo has more confidence in himself.

Motiejunas needs to try to play without fouling and stay on the court. He'll pick up a few fouls early.
He also needs to finish around the basket more consistently. He can do the hard part with his amazing post moves, yet can't put the ball in the basket sometimes.

Jones needs to improve his post defense.

Both need to improve their three point shot percentage. Actually, everyone on the team does.

DMo: Continue to play great positional defense.
Jones: Improved rebounding / positional defense.

I'll take whatever we get on offense.
