Remember a few years ago when Shaq was ready to leave the Lakers. There were rumors about Dallas packaging Nowitzki for Shaq. Indeed they were rumors because Cuban said that Dirk was untouchable.

What if... Cuban had dispatched Nowitzki and acquired Shaq with (most of) the rest of the Mavs roster. Would Nash/Shaq/Terry/Howard/? have been able to rack up a few trophys... the ones Miami almost got and did get?

Got any "what-ifs" of your own?

I also think that Tmac said he wanted to play in Dallas if Shaq landed up here. Besides, if Nash was still here then there wouldn't be a Terry

    I don't waste time with what if's

What if Grant Hill never got hurt? Wait... No scratch that.

What if a bunch of those lame transactions for mediocre players that this BBS was dying to make over the past few years actually worked out? The deals involving Austin Croshere, Damon Stoudamire, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, and many many more that I have already forgot.

The one time it did work out we got stuck with Mo Taylor. Stoudamire would be nice though, but I guess its Atkins time...

What-if Don Nelson got his way (when he took over the Knicks) and traded Patrick Ewing in order to set them up in a better position $$$ to get Shaq as a free agent?

He wanted to make them a run-and-gun team (like all Nelson teams are), and he knew he couldn't do it with a slow-footed big-man like Yao, I mean Patrick.

If Ewing is traded, they likely land Shaq (with NY being more high-profile than LA), and if they truly buy into Nelly-ball, there's no way he ever leaves NY.

If Nelly never leaves NY, there never is an opportunity given to a long-time assistant coach who's idol was Pat Riley, and who happens to have a balding problem. If JVG never takes over the Knicks, and has success, he never becomes a head coach anywhere else... ever.

    That's a cool "what-if".

no...the biggest what if's would be...

what if the rockets never changed their jerseys to the blue striped penis-shark faced rocket?

What if CD couldn't package the deal to get SF3?

What if EG wasn't such a nut job and played to his potential?

What if Tmac was happy in orlando and stayed there?

What if rudy never got sick?

meh, these threads are pointless. there aren't alternative universes that would have any of these as a reality so whats the point?

Here's another "what-if" is what if Allan Houston misses that little floater in game 5 of the first round series against the Heat in 1999? If he did miss it, there were reports of Van Gundy being fired right after the season. Without that shot, they would never have had that miracle run to the Finals, which launced JVG's reputation as a good coach.

You wanted me to come up with a new 'what if' for another NBA team. I refused and just elaborated on your faulty 'what if'

Besides, it was 4 in the morning and there was no other action going on

What if instead of being 5'6, I was 6'6 and had the athleticism of Kobe. I would be in the NBA.

What if I was 6' and 200lbs and run a 4.3 40. I could be a running back in the NFL.

What if I could throw a 150 mph fastball, I would lead the Astros to another world series.

What if I were better than Ronaldinho or Kaka, I would be in the next World Cup and take the U.S. to their first World Cup finals.

What if I had the vision and size of peyton manning, the arm of John Elway, and the footspeed of Vick... I would be the greatest quaterback in NFL history.

What ifs are the greatest form of conversation ever

Sometimes I wonder this trade which could have happened in the summer of 2004.

    1) Francis + Mobley to Orlando
    2) T-Mac + Howard to Los Angeles
    3) Kobe + Filler to Houston.

It is the exact same trade we did with Orlando but with T-Mac going to LA and Kobe coming to Houston in a sign and trade.

To me it looks very good to all parties involved at the TIME.
Yes we know now what a failure Francis has been in Orlando but at the time they were hot for him. Anyway Shaq stays in LA and gets his neighbor and best friend T-Mac as a sidekick so they are all happy. Kobe comes to Houston and gets another bigman to work with but this time he can play the no 1 option and so he is happy.

Just imagine what this could be like especially the Christmas games these teams would have and the playoffs matchups if they met in the postseason. Kobe Vs T-Mac and Shaq Vs Yao. Primetime right there for everyone to enjoy. Too bad Orlando lost in this deal.

Lakers would still be winning titles with TMac and Shaq.

Rockets would be stuck in #7 or 8 seed and go 1 and out in the playoffs for years.

    Orlando would still suck.

Why not just play nicely? I didn't ask for or need your opinion on my "what if" thread...

    You "refused?"

This post is crazy. You just mentioned a run-and-gun team and Shaq in the same sentence. I love how you suggest that the Knicks would have to trade Ewing because he's slow and then say they would go out and get the even slower Shaq. Comon man. I think if Nelly wanted to play "Nelly ball" in NY, Shaq isn't the guy you go out and get. Besides, do you think Shaq would sign with a team where the philosphy is to be small and quick? Let's think this through a little better.

What if Tracy Mcgrady drove to the basket with 40 percent of his shots? What if???? Hmmmmmm

What if Tracy realized his shot wasn't going down in Game 7 where he was 2 for 13 and maybe realized, I don't know , around the 2 for 6 mark he should of drove to the basket a lot more?

Tmac was 12 of 25 in game 7...almost 50%. 2 for 13 would belong to the league MVP up North.
