Just wanted to raise an interesting point...Landry was the young, explosive up and coming 4, Scola is the crafty top tier veteran 4 in his prime. Scola has been doing much more than proving his worth since Landry was traded but what if the Kings had asked for Scola instead? Who knows if Morey decided Scola was more valuable and offered landry as a counter? With the rockets playoff hopes reduced to a desert mirage, who would the rockets be better with going forward? Some helpful stats: Scola (29): 16 and 9, +18.74 Player Efficiency Landry (26): 16 and 6, +16.73 Player Efficiency
I assumed when Morey said that they "tried everything to keep Landry," it meant they offered Scola. There's basically no way that trade would have gone down without ONE of those two.
You used Scola's actual age, unlike some around here who have persisted in calling him 30 for at least a year. Major kudos!
If we traded Scola the Rockets would be worse...Luis is a better all around player than Carl is.... DD
I'd say Landry. Cheaper to keep for next year, more upside. A legit post presence you can rely on down the stretch that will attract double teams.
Landry would have been easier to trade in the summer for a star 4 than Scola will be (near impossible). I'll take Landry.
I think if he traded Scola away instead of Landry, we would've gotten something a little different in return.
