If we don't resign Posey for this year, save the cap space for when Rice's contract expires. How much money would this leave us for the next off season? It seems like we would be able to be major contendor in the market next off season and be able to pick up that final piece of the puzzle.

Rice and Nachbar could split time at SF this year. I know Boki has been sucking and Rice is on his last knee, but it might be worth the gamble. At least Boki is supposed to be able to play good D and should vastley improve playing a full season.

I still think we can make it to the playoffs with a good backcourt and improved Yao.

Am i misunderstanding the cap here?

    Opinions?

I don't think there's any way Posey signs anywhere else, it just might take a while to lock him up. But just in case, I wish we had kept T-Mo as cheep as he was.

Ok. We are at roughly 52 million without Posey. Take away Rice we are at 42. Then add the annual 10% increase on all contracts and we will be at 46. This years cap is 43 million. It has been hovering about there since the last TV contract and will be there next year. Thus there will be no cap space to sign anyone anytime soon. Maybe in about 15 years when Yao and Franchise retire.

Remember the last time we had capspace. Instead of going after a significant addition such as CWebb we resigned Moochie and Taylor to stupid contracts. The Rockets don't have top of the line player personnel people like Geoff Petrie. So don't expect miracles anytime soon.

I was assuming we'd have more cap scace than that....Scratch that idea. I like Posy but I just hate to see us resign him to a 6 year deal if Boki could be ready to go in 1 or 2 years.
