In light of the Arian Foster's comments, I was thinking... For all revenue generating sports, what if there was a salary cap? You can pay more for the 5* recruits, less for the 3*.... What if they gave student athletes 2 yr or 4 yr contract options with the salary cap... If you want the guarantee money and education you take the 4 yr contract... These contracts could come with extra money or just the standard scholarship with education /room board and 500 a month or whatever... If you are a 3 * recruit and think you deserve more, take the 2 yr contract with no guarantee of scholarship after yr 3, After year 3, go pro or renegotiate your contract to stay in school. If you suck, you might not get it renewed... This will get the big time players paid and will void the argument that they are making the school millions with no compensation.... No more extra benefits cheating BS... It will be a free market enterprise just like every other sport and every other business in this world. Obviously more rules would be needed, but would this premise work?
Imagine how much more fun college football recruiting would be... Im a fringe player but I can go to Texas my dream school for less money or go to boise state for more money...
