It's an interesting idea that has more than once sparked heated debate on this board; but in reality, he'll be the nominal point guard and Cat the shooting guard. Steve does play some extensive stretches at 2, anyway, with the short-for-a-3 but long-armed Cat completing the small-ball part of the lineup...well, unless Kenny is out there too, then we're talking SMALL lineup.

lol, as for the topic, it really doesn't matter because come crunch time Francis will be at the 2 guard in Rudy's 3 guard lineup.

What if Mobley moved back to PG. Cat's a great defender at the 1 and has the quickest first step in the league. Btw. i'm joking. I would use Mobley defensively against Kidd because his long arms would disrupt phoenix's offense.

I like the idea of versatile players. This is why I want a versatile NBA three. This would allow the rockets to go big with Francis, SF, Langhi, Webber/Mo/Cato/Collier, Hakeem and then to Moochie,Francis,Mobley,Webber/Bull/Mo/Langhi/KT/SF, Cato to keep the other team off balance.

Mobley was known as a spectacular defender when he played the point. This debate is pointless because the "shooting" guard position is simply a title. Francis plays any guard position at any given moment during the game. He is a guard, without the "point" or "shooting" titles.

    ZRB,

Francis is still running the offense more times than not hence the point title. The point guard uses a lot of energy bringing the ball up court and sets up the offense. When Mooch does this, Francis usually is more active on the offensive boards.

I Francis slid into the two spot do you think that would showcase all of his skills even more. Personally I think so, because he can do so many things without the ball in his hands. I think he can handle it better than Iverson can because Francis is alot bigger and stronger. When he was at Maryland, he was their shooting guard and I noticed this year that everytime that Rudy brought in Moochie and slide Francis to the 2, he would contribute more because he didn't have to stay back and prevent the fastbreak from happening. Just thought I try and find something else to talk about until Monday (the day after the lottery). What do you guys think?

Francis at SG is an interesting idea, but Houston would need to find a PG to play along-side Francis -- someone who can bring the ball up the court quickly and run the offense smoothly. (And if Webber comes to Houston, someone who has experience playing with Webber.)

Actually if we were to do this, Alvin Williams or Eric Snow would be ideal for the PG spot.

Maybe we can try to get ahold of Rod Strickland...

I think portland would take anything to get rid of Strickland after the nosedive they took when they acquired him.
