I am just hoping guys! We'll never know after the MRI result. Deke was emotional when he said he is going to retire but we have seen players come back yearning to play. He probably does not want to end his career this way. As I've said, it was his emotions at that moment when he was interviewed. We'll never know. He might come back this playoffs. I just don't want him to go and I don't want for him to end his career on an injury. Let's hope he can still come back!

And another thing... Why is he standing while he is being interviewed. I thought he can't stand. There was really no one holding him up during the interview. Just hoping guys!

Dude, if Mr. Finger Wag himself said: "It's over ..." Believe me, he knows his body, it is sad but it is over ...

Well, I really hope so, I can't imagine his terrible injury even now.
However, we should be realistic. Definitely, it's impossible for him to come back, Deke needs to concern about his health. And i'm sure u don't want to see him get hurt again. Now it's time to say goodbye.

His tendon ruptured. Watch the replay: his patella (kneecap) is sticking out the wrong way. Go drink a cup of coffee because you are apparently still dreaming.

Ok maybe not this playoffs but next season. there's always .01 % chance he'll come back. We've heard it from Jordan, Mourning and others even from other sports. If I am the player, i won't like to end my career that way. There's always a possibility even how small it is.

He is not, he even said it, even if it's not a big injury, he doesnt want to play anymore, he didnt really have to play this season anyway, Yao made him come back...let the old man retire, i love him, but he has done enough for us already, will miss him!

One of the most overused acronyms in the board. Not every freakin thread is lock worthy you know. And this is not lock worthy. Regardless of Deke saying he is not coming back it doesn't hurt one to dream.

Prior to your posts, the MRI revealed he had a ruptured tendon that will require surgery.

Craig Biggio walked off the field with a torn MCL and torn ACL that required surgery. Mutombo standing didn't mean anything.

dude, he ruptured his tendon. according to the team doc, this wasn't a clean tear, the thing "exploded." the dr.'s exact words were something along the lines of "this would potentially be a career-ending injury even for a 30 year old."

    time to move on, kid.

Dikembe has "retired" before. This time is a bit different since it coincides with an injury.

But if he has successful surgery to repair the tendon and Daryl Morey calls him mid-season next year, do you think Dikembe will definitively say "no"? I'm not so sure of what he'd say, myself.

Come on guys. He was injured with almost no contact. He has to save his body for his Kids. We as fans can't be too selfish to drag him back for 10 games next season. Let the man enjoy his family with a relatively healthy body.

I agree that IBTL could be used more discretely.

    But this thread deserves it.

He ain't coming back. He was borderline retired even coming into the season. I'm sure if there was any doubt in his mind about retiring it was gone once his leg exploded.

Maybe he can still help the team by rehabbing with McGrady so we at least know there is one adult in the rehab facility.
