Ship his sorry ass off! The Rockets actually have some sort of self respect. If Iverson ever became a Rocket I would cancel my season tix and become a Mavericks fan.
Or what if Steve Francis was the one behaving like Allen? Good question, and one I'd hate to answer honestly. It's easy for me to say that a player should be locked up when he isn't on the team I root for, but when it comes to "my team" I tend to be way too forgiving. Before Barkley came to Houston I was surprised with the stuff he got away with. While he was a Rocket and threw that guy through the glass in Florida I was hoping 1. Barkley didn't hurt himself, 2. the guy doesn't press charges, 3. Barkley doesn't miss any games because of this incident and 4. that the guy that went through the glass isn't hurt too badly. Too often people (me included) let the actions of their favorite players slip by or ignore them or even go as far to justify them. It's the same issue teachers deal with when they have athelete students. Do they fail the star player and then he isn't allowed to play in the big game? Do the cops arrest the football player and lock him up before the superbowl, or wait until after the game? It's a double standard for atheletes and it's even worse when you are rooting for that player. Just my take on the question. B
That reminds me of how we let Maxwell go in the 94-95 season. Would we have let him go if we didn't have Clyde Drexler? I know part of his actions had to do with us trading for Drexler, but assuming he still pulled the same stunts and we were trying to win the championship again (no Drexler), would we let him go? I think he still would be a Rocket, at least until the end of the playoffs. B
The question hit me listening to Rome so I thought I would put it up, but I hadn't really answered it myself. Now that I've thought about it I still can't say how I feel personally but I can say this whole AI business makes me REALLY THANKFULL for the guys we have. The fact that Steve and Cat swagger like streetballers but don't act like fools off the court. If Steve took us to the playoffs this year and his off court behavior became 'Barkleyesque' off the court, I wouldn't care. I don't think anyway.
Question: If this kind of story came out about you . . . and let's just say it is true. . . but they can never convict or even get you to court . . . .would it be right for your company to fire you? NOT MORALLY . . . LEGALLY Not to defend AI . . . HELL HOW CAN YOU DEFEND THE INDEFENSABLE? [BUT HE *IS* INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY . . but if he did this. . he is this years winner of the Ray Carruth Award!!] just wondering The NBA has all kinds of morals clauses and sh*t in their contracts right? Rocket River
AI would never be on our Team! The Owner and his Staff ( RT & CD) try not to select players with STREET mentality!!! So the case would never come up!
Back during the 93-94 season and the 94-95 season, we had some team players who were well respected throughout Houston. We didn't have any thugs or druggies (Maxwell, Lloyd, Wiggins) who would ruin our reputation. I miss the 93-95 class. Now we have Taylor (drugs) and Francis (drinking), bringing back memories of the class of '91. HELL, WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN IVERSON!!
eww she's not that pretty, wh ywould he look for her??? AI on this team would suck, but if AI said he would play point that would be great because Francis can play the 2 and will guard the bigger players.....Na i don't like that one bit.
AI wouldn't add anything to the Rockets but bad attitude. Since he wouldn't accept coming off the bench and neither would Francis you would have to trade Francis for AI. Then you would have AI with 28+ shots a game and our other stars EG, YM and others with few opportunities. Then nobody would be happy but AI.
