have the same record at the end. NO, SAS, LAL, Hou. WHat will be the seedings like. This tie break stuff is sos confusing.
What if you have three teams with the same record and each has a tie breaker with one but not the other?
what if you have three threads you could ask this question in? there are all of these scenarios playing out in the magic number thread...
You got me! Let me try 3 way tie-break between SAS, NOH, & HOU to determine the order of SW division. Then, 3 way tie-break between the top 2 teams of SW division and LAL to determine the order of the top 3 spots.
It could, but all teams would have to lose again. And finish 56-26. If that happens, a team tied for 1st will end up in the 5th spot with HCA over Utah.(and potentially other matchups with other teams tied)
yea like it is now with lakers, hornets, and rockets we have tiebreak over lakers, but hornets have it over us, and lakers have it over hornets. its like a triangle....
But in a 3 team TB. Rockets win by virtue of common games between the 3 teams(4-3 Hou, 4-4 NO, 3-4 LA) That said, any play-off matchup between the teams will determine HCA by H2H(Hornets would have it over Rockets, Rockets have it over Lakers, and Lakers have it over NO(conference Record))
Three-Team Tiebreaker 1. Best head-to-head winning percentage among all teams tied 2. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division) 3. Highest winning percentage in conference games 4. Highest winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference 5. Highest point differential between points scored and points allowed
I seriously believe some of these numbnuts who are posting these redundant seedings threads are just laughing at others who are getting bent out of shape at them.
The top four seeds will be the three division winners plus the team with the next best record. Those four will be ordered by record (and tiebreakers if needed). so first we must decide who is the southwest division title,as you said. NO,SA,HOUSTON are tiebreakers. this is a three team tiebreakers. tiebreakers: (1) Head-to-head (2) Division record (if the teams are in the same division) (3) Conference record (4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference (5) Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference (6) Net points, all games after selected the southwest division title,we decide the best second record team between the remaining two teams,of course this is a two team tiebreakers, also as the above rule. at last ,the top four seeds will ordered be record,of cousre there is another two team tiebreker. so we have three tiebreakers to decide,if NO,SA,houston have the same record.
That would be so very unlikely. BUT... you never know. They really need to revamp the playoff system. A fifty win team shouldn't be kept out of the playoffs.
If all 4 teams have the same record, the Rockets are #5 seed. So, frankly my dear, I dont give a damn for the rest.
We must first deside 2 teams to be in the top seeds from the south-western division. And Rockets will be 5th.
